Different strokes for different folks. I love my IBM model M keyboard, and the thing is still going strong though its using an adapter to fit. I like the feel, I like the sound, I like knowing I can pick up my keyboard and whack a sales guy if they really do go one step too far one day - and actually do some damage that'd justify the assault charge.
Obviously the model M is gone, but the keyboard isn't. And judging by the other posts, the keyboard is missed.
Hey while we're at it, lets stop classifying quantities with arbitrary labels like, '1', '2', '3', and '4.' Oh lets also not categorize diseases either. Hey, let's also remove your job title and pay you the same as someone who flips burgers. I mean, after all "categorize" and "label" are just other words for "judge" right?
Nah, see, the MMPI has some very, very important uses outside of what your employer thinks of you. Do you also think we should do away with baseball bats because they could possibly be used to smash someone's teeth in?
Actually, I may be wrong... I think there could be up to 4 versions of the MMPI, I was thinking of another assessment originally. I'd have to brush up on it.
You realize that the MMPI doesn't have different versions. I've administered it a couple of times, both in a classroom and at work. If you post it and people choose to study up on it, they could effectively skew their test scores thus ruining the validity of the test. While I dislike C&D orders as much as the next cat on/. I can understand this one. You're also not taking money from a big nameless corporation... if you look at the box the exam comes in (you DID purchase it first, right?) it lists the names of the researchers who have put their blood, sweat, and tears into creating that test. In theory you're not taking money, however if just 7 or 8 people post 75 questions each... you suddenly have the entire test out there. Thus the test is ruined, the researchers lose their income, and millions of scores are suddenly worthless.
Not technically... some motherboards with dual bios chips can be set to fail over to the secondary bios, and from there you could re-flash the primary off of the secondary.
Are you effing kidding man? No offense, but chip creep? That hasn't been an issue in production hardware that *I* have seen for well over 15 years, possibly 20 - even in the cheapest, shoddiest equipment. For it to suddenly appear in an XBox 360 is nothing short of pathetic. Set your fanboyism aside - and don't kid yourself, reread your post and you'll see that's exactly what it is - just look at the actual issue.
For those who don't know what chip creep is, it's the term used to describe the movement of chips that occurs when they're not soldered/improperly soldered, and is caused by repetitive heating/cooling over a span of time. The metal expands and contracts, which eventually causes it to work itself loose. It's an issue as old as the hills, and its really pretty shameful for it to be occurring in the 360.
IT is a bottomless pit of despair. I used to love computers, now I don't even own one outside of my work laptop (provided by my company). Go flip burgers, at least then you can stare at jailbait girls and get free food, and most importantly you know you'll work your hours and that's it.
Really it is just a start. Ideal would be to have a standard financial format for all government expenditures, that way we can create a website like google maps that charts everything that goes on.
I believe they're working on that - like a standardized format for all government documents using XML. I would have sworn there was something about that on/. a few months ago, though I could have had one too many hits from the snake.
Considering the alternative was having no website, I'll accept this. Given that it has to be compatible with a wide variety of systems that Americans worldwide will be using to access it, and it had roughly 2 months of dev time, anything better than a "HAHA WE STOLE YOUR TAX DOLLARS" is at the very least appreciated. Even in its current incarnation, its better than trying to find the numbers on your own. Its not super usable, but its better than nothing.
Porn is only unrealistic if you have a girlfriend who doesn't like porn. Now if you'll pardon me, I have a donkey and a midget waiting for me on the bondage rack.
Be careful, Mr. Murphy is ever the douchebag about enforcing his law. A friend of mine was doing consulting for AT&T wireless and the director of marketing offered him an Iphone as a "hey our service doesn't suck that bad, try this to prove it!" sort of thing. After numerous dropped calls outside NYC (a pretty much inexcusable place for ANY company not to have coverage), he uses it as nothing but a fancy PDA and switched back to using a junky clamshell phone from Verizon. It worked, but not enough to satisfy a can't-ever-miss-a-call consultant.
Isis was the Egyptian goddess representing the perfect mother/wife figure. She is represents the throne, and the power it holds. She is sometimes represented as a kite hovering over the corpse of her dead husband.
So there you go, the logical conclusion is that they want to show us the power of their throne. And that the Pentagon officials think we're all their dead husbands.
Seriously. 4-6MP Barco Mammography monitors at $30,000 a piece. Then add an additional 2 21" NEC Color Displays powered off a high end Quadro card. All of this is connected to an HP xw8600 with 8GB ram, quad core Xeon, etc. All in all it came to a bit over 150k when it was all said and done considering the monitors had to be ordered factory direct from Korea and we had to pay importation fees.
Sadly you can't use it to run much of anything except PACS software. I'd love to give flight sim a whirl if quadro cards were good for something besides rendering.
QFT Parent. My current company is small, and I've been literally begging them for months to...
a) Put AV on all machines that leave our premise (because most of them connect back in, trusting it to the customer isn't good enough).
b) Let me install an IDS/IPS, (but have been told that the benefits don't outweigh the 10K it'll cost for 3 GigE taps, and a server that can deal with that much data without croaking).
c) Get on a one month delay before installing windows updates on all servers/workstations. Time for QC, but still mostly up to date.
Funny enough most of my requests have been met with a financial excuse like, "we can't afford that." Seems that this is changing now that our CEO and CFO both have virii on their machines. I guess getting infected made the threat seem more real?
Kudos on Burlap to Cashmere... Basic Instructions is an AMAZING song, and I'm a farking agnostic. I used to listen to that when I started getting tired on morning jogs. Got me revved up like whoa.
That's a dangerous road to walk down skippy. See, you're asking for correlation to imply/not imply causation, which it just can't do. On top of that, online maps became prevalent around the same time as modern message boards, social networking sites, etc. Considering online mediums are a massive source of recruitment for any terrorist group, your evidence would most likely be there. More recruits means more chances to attack.
Obviously the model M is gone, but the keyboard isn't. And judging by the other posts, the keyboard is missed.
I shy away from just calling it the singularity because, sadly, there are other singularities in science :(
I really, really hope they follow the laws of robotics with any sort of "learning and adaptation" behavior.
...it starts. Looks like we're on our way towards the technological singularity.

Silly, you need the blood of a unicorn to gain immortality. Or to drink from the holy grail!
Kasparov must really be kicking himself if he is reading this article.
You missed the possibility that I am in fact said girlfriend :)
Porn is only unrealistic if you have a girlfriend who doesn't like porn. Now if you'll pardon me, I have a donkey and a midget waiting for me on the bondage rack.
12MP is definately not the end, considering many professional photographers offer copies of images at up to 30MP.

Agreed. AT&T service is pointless in PA/NJ.
So there you go, the logical conclusion is that they want to show us the power of their throne. And that the Pentagon officials think we're all their dead husbands.
