Well, he could just wipe the disk and claim he didn't know what happened......actually, he could say that with Linux too - "I just put this cd in and click 'ok' a few times", then everything seemed to be ok, so I left it alone...now this hinge problem. You mean this *isn't* MS Windows? <shock>".
[OK, how do I get my "<shock>" to appear *and* the line breaks too (but without <br/> appearing too)? Am I really supposed to replace my '<' with '& lt;' etc? Why isn't "Plain Old Text" what it says?]
The English word "football" is also applied to American football (also known as gridiron), Australian rules football, Canadian football, Gaelic football, rugby football (rugby league and rugby union), and related games.
Though I was really only talking about comedy; "Cracker" was quality TV (one of my all-time favourites), but now you mention it, I think a few decent dramas made it over in some form or other - "Touching Evil" for one.
I'm not even going to comment on that other one you mention, though I agree that it's effect on the political right might be it's only redeeming quality.
Well then, let me go further. There are a few shows that seemed to be more popular in the US than in the UK; two of them were The Tracy Ulman Show, and The Benny Hill Show and I don't recon' much to either of them either. It seemed somewhat telling that they were more popular in the US - having said that, I never actually saw anyone watch either of them, I think because they both predated my time in the US.
I can't think of a single good (IMO) show that made it from the UK to the US - it's only the crap ones that made it. Strange that.
I'll turn my geek hat in at the door on my way out.
DAVE sounds awefully like a Digital Wallet which I had several years ago. It had a PCMCIA interface for you to plug cards into, but it was incredibly useful. It used Firewire for connection to the PC so was very fast too (faster than DAVE, probably). It was only 6GB though.
I guess that was ahead of it's time. It worked wonderfully for me.
IIRC, it was produced by a company called "Minds At Work" - which seems to be http://www.mindsatwork.net/, but it isn't loading for me (I'm in China, so it's not unusual):| Is it still around?
I expect you'd do that no matter what part of the world you were in.
...or did he come back? I forget...last one I saw was him dropping into a blast furnace.
I was talking about using extrans. It included the
's and didn't put line breaks in unless I had them.
I just want plain text....why is that so hard?
..or perhaps the Citizens Advice Bureau. If you're unemployed, they can even help you take them to court.

well, 'rugby' is actually 'rugby football' so your assertion would seem to be false.
If you read the wikipedia article, they mention another possible reason for it being called football (instead of, say, carryball).
> During the football (that's football, not soccer)
You just excluded the most popular use of the word - ie association football - but there are still several others :

don't forget...MythTV is good for other things than just watching TV.
With enough laxative, anyone could pass it.
I think "The Office" was crap.

I think the trust is doing the checking, not the gov. and we already knew that.
well, I guess I did[1], though I was more thinking of the poster himself being in a permanent cleese mode :)
... er, rest of life.
:D
should make for an amusing day
"lets go for a short walk"
Though I suppose there's nothing to stop him turning cleese mode off sometime in the future...
Anyway, I've never been much of a cleese (python) fan - too silly for me. Faulty Towers is about my limit.
BTW, what's so special about my UID?
[1] having said that, an infinite loop still has an 'end', as signified by the '}' below :
while (1) {
walk strangely
}
I hadn't thought of advertising, but I did think of Fox News and included it under propaganda.
right. just what you said. the only news is that they (the uk gov.) said they (the UK gov.) aren't going to do anything.
you forgot to turn your cleese mode off.
> they [the regime] can not [control] their thought process.
Really? I bed to differ. Some thought control methods that come immediately to mind :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnotism
and more generally :

wrt how well they work on populations, YMMV, but at least propaganda has been used extensively throughout history, in war and peace time.
> It will get worse before it gets better.
Them sound like fighting words....think there'll be some kind of revolution?
Well, that's just rude.

Ah, here's DPReview's page on it : http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/digitalwallet/
It's a shame when good products don't make it, only to be successful later for some other company
Right answer. Stupid question. He only gave one option, but gave it twice. Sigh.
...can't argue with that, I guess.
>So much for "it's not overpriced for a phone with so much advanced technology".
Surely no one said that. It's clearly behind in terms of technology.
> If a nuclear weapon were detonated in a U.S. city how could we verify it wasn't our bomb if we can't keep track of where our weapons are?
Now *that's* +5 Funny.
It is a common tactic to tell a story that makes you look bad in order to cover up the real story that is even worse.
What do you think could be the worse story?
