More about the satellite mentioned in the wired article. Seems it might be undetectable by radar too. Cryptome has more info about the patent mentioned in the wikipedia link.

Not only are the problems not insurmountable, they've already been surmounted. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.02/spy_pr.ht ml Well, at least from visible flares reflecting off the satellites. It's been some time since I read this, and I don't recall the article talking about if they could be detected by radar (not like the amateur would be able to test that anyway, though china could). A quick "Find in This Page" doesn't show much talk about radar either.

  3. Senator Hatch is a friend... on Sen. Hatch to Introduce Wide-ranging Copyright Bill · · Score: 1

Senator Hatch is a friend of child pornography.

    Seriously.

The man clearly doesn't understand that p2p networks won't disappear because of his little bill, they'll just become stealthier and the material on them harder to trace to a source. At least on today's commonly used networks child porn can be traced to an ip address, and the people providing it face the chance of prosecution.

If the networks are forced to become more secure, it won't be as easy in the future and I'm sure we'll end up with a blossoming of child porn because of it.

The police investigation isn't what this article is about. Of course there should have been an investigation - but then they should have realized the guy was clean, and dropped it. It's the damn prosecution of this case that goes too far.

See GNOME Storage. It's still a work in progess, but it's exactly what you describe and sounds interesting.

i'm sure it's just a typo, but kinda an important one: "make bzImage && make modules && make modules_install" should be "make && make modules_install" with a 2.6 kernel. The make commands have changed from 2.4

You should look specifically at another set of videos at the metalstorm site, about what they call an "Area Denial Weapons System". It's the evolution of what's talked about in the above posts, plus sensors and other cool stuff. Very impressive, and superior to a minefield in many ways.

Actually, there is DRM on WMA files produced from your own CDs. At least if he used windows media player to rip them, the files are tied to that machine, and won't play on anything else.

Yes, you were reading the poster wrong. He couldn't republish the codes that the clerk gave him because those codes ARE the company's codes. It's true that "the only way you can get in trouble is if you republish a lot of this data and can't prove you got it from anything else except the commercial database." But the catch is that there is no other source for this information.
