excuse my ignorance in physics, but i always wondered: if light has no mass then it has no speed or energy because E=MC^2, right ? if you insert a 0 in M, then 0 times C^2 is 0, thus E = 0
assuming that photons have mass ( or we would live in a very strange universe ) than at least is possible for some kind of mass to travel at the speed of light ( because light have mass and is mass because has energy and velocity )
so why would be impossible for other kinds of mass to travel at the speed of light ?
"Should the robot fire? Should the 'life' of the robot be weighed into the decision?"
life ? what life ?
in case you havent noticed robots cost money, just like wounded soldiers or dead soldiers, the only dif. is that robots cost less, or do you really believe in that "always bring our boys back" crap you see in movies ? training cost money, hospitals cost money, that IS the primary reason for robots, not to preserve life.
people that want to preserve life do NOT make war
"Collateral damage" a nice way tell that you murdered someone
what seems to escape most posters is that the majority of spyware on computers was instaled by the people that uses them. There is no OS or antispyware or whatever that can do anything about that, average joe is dumb in windows in linux or os2, average joe will click on ad or will install bonzi budy just to watch some naked chicks. its mostly a problem of user education, not software.
i remember recording tv shows in vhs so i could watch it later and i think that was not piracy and if i borrrowed a recording, that was not piracy too, now why should downloading from internet be piracy ? after all i am just borrowing a recording.
following the tv piracy line of thought isnt microsoft selling software with the only purpose of piracy (media center)?

Patrick J. Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition.

US of A will fall under its weight just like any other empire in human history, its just a question of time, these are only the first signs
USians - half of the world already hates your asses and soon the other half will hate you too.
better start thinking what you are going to do about that.
let me give you a small tip : stop messing up with other countries just because you can (never mind about the oil now...)
it would be much more easy for amd to implement some kind of strict power control ( speedstep + hardware hacks )in its cpus than intel add on dye memory controler, support for DC and hypertransport, me thinks
" I'd like them to make a dual core Pentium M, add the latest SSE stuff (SSE3?), an on-die, dual channel memory controller, a HyperTransport bus, and sell it for the desktop crowd.
Microsoft starts making virus and spyware to sell more antivirus and antispyware ???
"We will put up a satellite to replace the Hubble. Space isn't going anywhere"

very very small, but its worth doing it. Just think of the impact in humanity if just one discovery was made...
its kinda like the big lottery, your chances are very small but you still play it, the prize is too much tempting.
not EA, i hope :)
well, intel did the same...
i think all big corporates do the same, until its too late

well, i tried to install FF in work too but only 1 person kept using it, and it was me. Comon complaint:
- too slow
- too complicated
After Service pack 2 i also started to hear:
- IE now has a pop up blocker, so its better
Worst part of the equation, my coworkers are what you can say "technical people"
I never understood what was the magic in IE (or MS )but is strong indeed
I doubt FF will ever get a nice market share people are completely addicted to IE
