it's obvious isn't it, the goverment hasn't worked out how to classify a complaint as an act of terror yet, but rest assured there working on it, and that'll be fixed in the next couple of years.
What you'll find, is it was more a business realated Decision then anything else, one of the main reasons they rejected the filtering was "because the burden on most small and medium size isp's would put them out of business".
Dunno there if has been press about it in the US or EU, but there has been a massive crack down on Child porn in australia as well. With a Few hundred people already arrested.
The main Oppistion to this is the same person that gave his vote to sell off out public telco for the first set of "internet child protection filters", makes you wonder realy.
And on a different not (don't want to make 2 posts) the main idea of this was to block child porn from other countrys. But it is law in australia that all ISP's MUST provide links on there websites to filtering software already.
simple, they just start waving enough cash around and it'll get done. if them spending the money to block it, is less then what they'll make, then they'll got for it, simple.
not realy, your the one who keeps that infomation, they only way (we'll you'd hope) they'd get there hands on that serial if you done something with the document that was "legaly challanged" =)
but this does remind me of the story a few years ago about the printer manafactors having to recall there green inks because it was the same color as dollar bills.
http://www.detechnologies.com/news.htm, if you had of even looked at there site, you would of seen that the patent number was in the the little snippet for the press release about it.
On the other side, they have a picture of a tanker on there front page, i wonder if it's going to sink as quickly as the patent will.....
...Someone is going to come out of this a big winner. I just don't know who it is.
#7 started off well, but ummm what's the prediction, he just stated a situration and then failed to "predict" what would happen, vauge wouldn't even cover it. somethings going to happen, but what ?
As 2004 is a leap year with 366 days, I'm guessing Cringely will get this prediction wrong...
well 365 days will be the last day of the year....
new predictions on the first day of the year, checking of old predictions on the last day of the year/shrug
well you could try
...
HP Laserjet schematics -"ink refill" -ebay -"shopping cart" -laddersearch
