it's right under the search bar on their main page, and it's marked as beta, which means it's a full release for them ?
that's more of public release then anything else they have had isn't it ?
I think the best path is, if your going to be releasing on the web, get the distro you'll be deplying onto, also make sure you have the same configuration files setup. I use this setup, it's fast and simple, and if items change on your live servers, it's easy to update your local (just copy files) instead of trying to "translate" the setup and configuration.
No, they'll just use it along with rest to force smaller companies into licencing deals, you got something microsoft wants? well you give it to them, other wise they'll throw a couple thousand invalid patents at you, wouldn't cost that much to strike them down right?
I had a quick read of the article (i know it's slashdot..), but been australian, i have a question, do all american's keep buckets of urine in their house, along with slingshots bows and guns?
but in all seriousness, they had weapons, and well buckets of urine, and where planing to use them at the protest, so reading what you said, it think this is ok ? because there's the extreme that the goverment is taking abusing civil rights, but your supporting protest groups doing the same thing? quite seriously, do you think it's ok to get covered in urine to make a political point?
While i think the abuse of the rights of citizens (of any country) is bad, but this type of raid (from the article) is good, but allowing people to run around with weapons and shit is just an extreme on the other end of the scale...
Just to expand on tchiseen,
In oz, a 20/40gb connection is around 80-90$ (that's 20 gig peak - 40 gb offpeak, offpeak been midnight to around 8am), and that's considered "a large amount".
most people here would be having street parties even if we got 100gb for $60 (with the peak/offpeak crap).
The current trend in australia is now to count the uploads as apart of the quota now as well, which is even worse then just getting a "cap".
They'll do, what the isp's in australian did, limit the connection to sub dialup speeds after the cap is hit, and then still call it unlimited, well cause you still have a connection....
I would put this under the obvious section, think about it, arcade machines have used them for god knows how long (i remember them 20 years ago). If you put arcade games ona console, you'd expect that the same controllers would be ported to a controller as well. Thinking back, there was a game called time commando(or something similar) in which you could face six or eight directions using the stick, there have been a few with dual controllers as well. The machines the games are run on have changed, so shouldn't the controllers be upgrades just the same ?
Red Hat has not provided a consumer desktop distribution in over 5 years Only if you don't count Fedora core, the free version of Redhat that is still worked on.
When those people who are introduced to Ubuntu have an opportunity to influence decisions in the enterprise You'll find alot of items that are in Fedora core make it into RHEL, Which in some ways makes it into the enterprise, but with the way business works, do you think that end users (comsumers) are really going to be able to have a say in what gets put in / taken out of a enterprize level operating system?
popularity in the space the Red Hat vacated 5 years ago They never left, They just made two distinct products so people wouldn't have brand confusion.
well you can't expect them to support products for ever either.
really, i'm not expecting them to release a patch for windows 3.11 with gigabit networking and hyperthreading/dual core/smp support anytime soon...
Just because they stop supporting a product doesn't mean you have to stop using it, it just means that you can't keep on using the latest hardware and related items for ever with the product. If you want the latest harware, that's your choice not theirs.
They are talking about the online home, not the blueray disks, so that's a different matter entirely. If you do a search for "+porn +sony +blueray" in google you'll see that sony have done the same thing for blueray as they did betamax....
that's what has gotten me confused as well.
Also at the time, it was stated in the media here (in australia) that the "crimes" where legal in australia.
Did you read the FAQ, they say there've done a search engine in it as well to prevent goverments from altering peoples points of view, and big companys from filtering competiors products etc etc, then it starts to go on about filtering out porn and stuff, because people need to be protected. that's just what the first 2 examples where doing, just from a different point of view. these guys are twisted on a moral level.
some people would consider it a business as well, so.. if we removed all the business websites off the net everything would be solved then wouldn't..
If you see original articles and compelling content, it's legit.
Cool, we should be able to removed 99.999% of the sites on the web then !
Even so, isn't there a time limit, from the first time you do something, until you can patent it, ie doing something, and then patenting it 10 years later isn't going to fly..
Simple, because they won't know what to allow, and what not to allow without manualy checking all emails.
I recived a phishing email the other domain, the Phishers 1) registered a domain that fitted into other domains the bank had, had the complete site down pat, had an ssl cert, the only thing that gave the page away as a phishing page, was that the extenstion was.aspx, and the form submit was a.pl file, the bank doesn't use that... that was the only difference, i'm quite quite sure, that even alot of slashdots would of been fooled by something that complex. Now if the ISP personal that's checking theese things, doesn't use the same bank as me, HOW would they know ?
but isn't that the point, i'm quite sure congress don't want everyone knowing that the oil companys funded WMD report that lead to bigger things:P
can't have it both ways..
the EULA is to protect their trademark, if they don't, they would lose it, you wouldn't want microsoft brading MSIE9 firefox 4 would you???

but it's their job to vaidate it.

this appears to be a problem with credit of the work, not with downloading of it. that is a different thing entirely
well if they can still make a profit, it's obviously not that over saturated.
ilreguardless of what format the game is - people will get addicted, it's just life.
This reeks of moral hypocrisy.

Bah India is short sited, if they go with a cheaper country like say .. moldova.. they can get away with cheaper labour for longer ..
some people would consider it a business as well, so .. if we removed all the business websites off the net everything would be solved then wouldn't ..

the government still owns 51% of telescum, what's your point ?

Don't you Mean 3rd Term ?
