Don't think it's been pointed out yet, but, if I'm reading the USPTO page correctly someone (I would presume TigerDirect) filed opposition to Apple's trademark on December 15th. If it was them, this lawsuit, while still baseless in my opinion, is not quite as out of left field as it seems at first blush.
Yeah, to really prove how much people prefer copy-protected CDs they should sell two versions, one with and one without and then they can show the world that people prefer the ease of just buying multiple copies.
As it says there, no actual deal existed. I suspect what happened was that there were negotiations and when they broke down, Sony stepped in and made a better offer.
I don't have a windows box handy, but it should be similar to my mac.
In the preferences there should be a tab or icon for "Effects". Under that should be an option to Crossfade Playback and a slider to adjust the amount from 0 to 12 seconds of overlap.
At least 5 seconds is a good way to go if you've got any songs with those 2 second bits of silence on the ends.
Actually, they have a link at the bottom of their store page labelled Sales and Refunds.
On that page it says:
"RETURN & REFUND POLICY
If you are not satisfied with your Apple purchase of a pre-built product, please call 1-800-676-2775 for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) request within 10 business days of the receipt of the product."
And a little further down:
"Please note that Apple does not permit the return of or offer refunds for the following products:
1. Product that is custom configured to your specifications"
I do think it's a bass-ackwards policy, but it's all there on the site. May not be fun, but always a good idea to read the fine print (especially before laying out the sort of money Apple wants).
