Yea but no KDE. apt-get KDE . Try that out in the sticks on dailup. I dont have the luxery of broadband available to me. But fedora has KDE. Keep up the good work though. I guess that just leaves slack and lindows with a default KDE
I had troubles with Mandrake as well. The first install of 9.2 found my modem and worked fairly well It would not open a terminal in a user account though. Then a few weeks passed and I thought I would try it again. This time it refused to use my modem. All the other problems seemed to be resolved though.All I have heard was how easy Mandrake was to use the distro for newbies that still had power. Man I still dont know how people got that impression unless the version 8x releases where better. Oh well I am sticking to Fedora for my main box and Slackware for my backup box. I am glad the drake is doing good though.
I tried 5.1 right after RedHat announced no more Linux just enterprise or Fedora. I liked it real well except for the fact it was missing more than a RedHat or Fedora release. No screensavers and no sound drivers.This is something that might have been fixed but it was the end of a long day and I was through. I put Slack 9.1 back on that box. Other than that is was a nice quite desktop setup. I am sure that the BSDs make very good server's but Joe SixPack (Me) it is not the best OS to use. I like sound and multi media apps. Of course I am typing this from my Fedora Core setup.With lots of add ons. Mp3 Ogle etc.. I liked RedHat 9 better(7.3 was even better)and still have it on my other Harddrive but this 8mb cache really flys compared to the 2mb on my RH 9 HardDrive.

The did false advertising etc. I went with the dish 500 and get a whole lot better service more channels etc. It doesnt fad out in the rain like direct tv did. Well my beef was really with pegasus that is who I had to go through. I could care less about the tivo deal. I can always make my own PVR if I want. I just wanted to warn you about what to expect from direct tv

I asked him about if and when IBM might offer a desktop PC preloaded with Linux. He stated never. They only saw Linux as a server platform and that MS prevented them from selling any Desktop/Laptop PC loaded with Linux. Went on to say that they both made a lot of money because of each other. Then changed the subject.

I own a denon stereo reciever and a denon CD player.
The denon will blow the doors off of anything on the market it is 12 years old and still works great. It still sounds better than all of those fancy 5.1 setups in Best Buy. Now a new Denon on the other hand well that will probably sound better.
As for the DVD player. Since my 2 year old VCR died I decided to get one of those DVD-VCR combos a panasonic 159$ at walmart. And I am almost certian it said made in taiwan.
I am sure if you check the local classified ads that there is at least 1 or 2 12 step programs that will help you deal with your addiction.
I mean come on we have aynanomis groups for gamblers and sex addits . Why not internet junkies as well.

Hah I spent that much time trying new distros yesterday. They where all broken. So here I am still on RedHat 9. I tried fedora broken I tried mandrake 9.2 broken I tried JAMD broken. I tried debian broken. Each distro had it its own problem. I umplugged my new harddrive and pluged in the old. I guess it is back to SUSE in the end. I have a backup box running Slack 9.1 I really like it except I cant get Xiamian Evolution to work on it and I cant get grip or any other ripper to encode. So today I have 5 pieces of crap that where given to me from co workers. 2 have recently been brought back from wifes buisness where they worked flawlessly for months after about a 30 minute repiar on each. I will have at least 2 windoze PCs running from this pile of crappy spare parts sitting behind me in half the time this guy spends installing drivers. If my wife where a geek with tits I could spend half the time and just put Linux on them save all the time on drivers etc. But she just no way in hell will run linux or even look at the screen. Says she cant get her employees to use windoze right much less GNU/Linux
Yes but apparantly you must have X11 running on the mac to use it. I only have one old mac powerbook that I bought used and forgot to get an OS 9 Cd for and then I found out you cant remove programs without the CD. ( Think I will call that guy today).
Anyway I have never really used the mac.t All of my OOo 1.03 and 1.1 CDs have a mac version on them.
Maybe I should wipe the mac and put Linux PPC on it??

What exactly is in this distro that is not covered by the GPL? I read the aggreament and it made mention of propriatary software that cant be copied except for archival purposes. Is this Like the yast thing in SuSe? I have a copy of SuSe I only used it for a while before switching to Slackware. No where when I installed it did it pop up with any kind of aggreament except that yast is not to be modified.
I sure kope KDE is not a legacy. I started out with RedHat 7.3. So I guess that makes me a noob. Any way I would not use KDE period Gnome only for me. Then I tried RedHat 8 it sucked it was a step backwards I formated and went back to 7.3. Then came 9. I tried it and liked it I guess they got the bugs worked out from 8 to 9. But Gnome sucked to the max no menu editor(WHAT) So off to KDE I like it much better has more control middle click right click etc. All the stuff gnome lacks and a Menu editor. I tried fedora core just a day or two ago. It sucks no aumix-X11. No pine . The Nvidia Drivers wont compile and yes I had the kernel source installed. Less control during installation. I know this is off topic but the hat scene is going down. I guess I will continue with RedHat 9 and Slack 9.1 on my test box. I would switch them both over if I could get evolution to work on Slack. That is the one good thing to come from Gnome or Xiamian its all the same. If I install user linux it will have KDE added on.
