When I first looked at it I two 90 degree cones of ejecta blasting from a central point along the rotation axis of the original star. Like the Eye Nebula would look if seen from the side.
My second thought was it looked like those things we made in kindergarden where you wrap colored yarn around two sticks. I think my mom still has the one I made her, she used to put it on the Christmas tree.
It is most devinitly NOT a lens artifact, look at the other stars, they have six points, those are definitly caused by the camera, the Keck telescope uses hexagonal mirrors in its array.
Actualy the invaders would be more likely to label you Terrorists.
Acording to Dictionary.com an Insurgent is "a person who rises in forcible opposition to lawful authority, esp. a person who engages in armed resistance to a government or to the execution of its laws; rebel.", If Blair, bush and co. called them "resistance fighters" or "Freedom fighters" it would be an acknowledgment that the people had something legitement to resist, ie. an invasion by a forieng power with the intent of overthrowing the existing goverment and taking over the country for their own profit. So by calling the fighters "insurgents" they try and make it sound like they (the invaders) have a legal right to be in Iraq and Afghanistan.
One last item for thought, the current conflict in Iraq is not officialy a "War" since the Congress has never issued the declaration. And no, a US president CAN NOT issue a declaration of war on their own, the Constitution of the USA is quite clear on that matter, only Gongress has that authority, and they can't give it to anyone else either. Of course bush has been ignoring the Constition whenever it is in conflict with what he and his croonies want to do.
Validates my point, Your friend was not in full possesion of his faculties at the time he commited the offense(s?).
As to the status of the police, also correct to a degree, you have to take into account that the police are bound not just by the laws that you and I are but by a second set that governs, and restricts, their conduct to the point that even though they may KNOW that someone is guilty, even to where they have evidence of someones guilt, unless it was collected in accordence with the laws protecting a citizens civil rights or is from a source that would be credible to a jury its useless. I've know several cases where the police had the person dead to rights, but they couldn't hold them due to some technicality or flaw in the way the evidence was collected, so they walked. The only thing that kept me from staying really pissed is the fact that the laws that let them walk are the same laws that would also let me walk if someone wanted to plant evidence against me.
The Law is a double edged sword, one side cuts the wicked, the other defends the inocent. At least that how it is supposed to work, its still evolving.
I've always said that the prisons are full of stupid criminals. And no, I am not counting those who are wrongfully convicted or getting unfairly prosicuted. Only the ones who did a crime and then did something that made it easy to catch them, like putting stuff up on eBay, looking right at the camera, or sending a letter to the FBI taunting them about how they will never catch you, only to have them pull DNA from the back of the stamp linking you to more crimes you didn't mention and giving them a starting point to search thanks to the postmark.
It doesn't mater if the cause is human, sunspots or some other natural cycle.
The climate is changing and Homo Sapiens need to start adapting or we will end up just like the Dinosaurs. Just like everything else on the planet, we are expendable as far as the Earth is concerned.
The sooner we start making changes the easier, and cheaper, its going to be in the long run.
He has mine for now. Anyone who will put there convictions above their paycheck gets high marks from me. I have seen too many people keep silent because they don't have the guts to speak out against something that is wrong or just plain stupid, and I'm not just talking about the M$/Novell deal.
One of the greatest Evils is when the Good stand by and do NOTHING.
Disclaimer: I have not RTFA, nor do I know all the fields of a DHCP request by heart.
From what I've read in the summary and comments if the system doesn't use DHCP,ie IP address of a machine is hard set, then this latest stunt by m$ won't do anything.
I could see a virus/trojan that sniffs some packets, determins the class and range of addresses used by a network and then picks one that will work, Hell I worked out an app that did this sort of thing years ago and I am a mediocre programmer at best, so it won't be too hard for a l337 programmer to automate it for a trojan.
Unless the kill-code has some challenge/response security this could get interesting.
Could you imagine the effect of using a high power transmitter from a good location to send the kill-code to every RFID in range? You might be able to take out a few hundred cards by just driving to the convienience store.
Thank you for poving to me that there are still other people out there who have not yet had their brains become so full of "facts" that they can't see beyond them.
When I saw "geometrically" in the title the first thing I thought was "WOW, the data is in the angles!", but now I think your closer to the truth, its all about adding states to the bits. Though using the angle of the figure relative to some reference line would add another set of states, hmmmm.
Can you imagine the fun when quantum computing hits main stream? All of the 1/0 dinosuars are going to be facing a meteor in the form of the Qbit. Thanks again, PG
I don't usualy like to think ill of my fellow slashdoters and I know I am going to get moded a troll or flaimbait and get a lot of heat for this but it seems like everyone who has posted so far are CLUELESS!
You are all talking about how you can only store so many bits at such and such a resolution on paper and how the scanners can only get so much info from it and yada yada its all a bunch of BS.
Ever wonder why a picture is worth a thousand words? Its bacause there is VISUAL data contained in the picture that can not be described in the same number of bits as it takes to represent the information in the image.
Nobody seems to flip out when we hear about a DVD size disk that can hold a few Terrabytes of data, why?, because its holographic, it uses the same storage technology as a DVD but stores information in the depth of the bit in the media as well as its linear location in the data stream, the actual data density hasn't changed when viewed as a two dimensional surface. So what if we think of this new methode as a "Visual" storage system, not just a two dimensional array but with color and geometric angles being the third and possibly fouth layer of data?
Anyone else remember that the sine of any angle is some F'ing huge number, what about cosine and tan? Throw in radians and a few math algorthms and you could probably store some major amounts of data whith just a few lines and colors.
This may be BS, but at the same time it may be a really incredible leap of imagination on the part of the creator of this. We only show how rigid and limited our minds are when we dismiss something out of hand because we don't understand it.
Now you all get to flame me, call me an idiot and explain to me how I don't understand information theory or any of the rest of the theorys or principles everyone is talking about. I don't, that may be why I get it and you don't. Maybe it is because of your inability to see beyond those principles and theorys you hold so dear that you don't understand how this data storage system works.
Another great source of Omega-3 fatty acids is hemp seed, and no, it will not get you high (Goddess, I am tired of hearing that one). It can be purchased legaly at any Whole Foods or other "Health Food" or organic food outlet. Read about it,http://www.motherhemp.com/nutrition.html/ and http://www.hempoilcan.com/compo.html/
You can add it to a lot of different dishes or just eat it straight as a hot ceriel like oatmeal.
Someone high up in the Admin is pulling some string to try and cast a cloud of FUD over the company so they can mandate using Diebold as the "Official" voting machine of the USA.

I'm not trying to be flamebait or a troll but the first thing that came to mind when I read the summry was the Nazi Youth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_Youth),scroll down the linked page and look at the photo.
I'm not trying to insult the Boy Scouts, its just what I thought. And for the record I was once a member of the cub scouts, droped out because I didn't fit in very well, too many narrow minds and narrow world views, at least with my troup.
Now if you will excuse me I'm going to go put on my flame resistant armour.
You are so far off the mark it is ludicrous. I see no point in continuing to try and explain something when you can not, or will not understand what I'm trying to say.
Funny, everone else I know who has read my original comment understands the point I was trying to make, I guess I'll have to be more carefull and aim my comment at the 50-60 percential range next time I reply.
I have no problem with your country having laws to govern how people are named, I don't live there. However your prejudicial nature is showing again since you assume I live in the US, are you sure about that or are you just making an arse of yourself?.
Unsurprisingly you seem to have completly missed my point, just because someone has a name that sounds like or is spelled "Window" in English it doesn't mean that they where named after a window, maybe one or both of her parents are from another country where "window" in the local language means something totally different.
Anyway, I look forward to your reply, your last one was most entertaining.
Also, what sort of drugs do you have to be on to name your kid "Window"?
Kind of like asking "what kind of relegious zealots do you have to be to name your kid after an apostle?", don't slander someones parents just because you think they have a silly name, ever consider that her parents may have named her using a language where "Window" means something other than a way of letting the sun in?
If not, if you truly believe what you are saying is correct I would strongly sugjust you read "The Art of War", by Sun Tzu, considered by most of the worlds real military stratigist and leaders to be one of the finest doctrines of how a war should be fought. Maybe after you have read this you will HAVE A FSCKING CLUE!!!!!!!!!! of the cost and logistics of real warfare.
Till then keep making a fool of yourself, I'm finding you quite entertaining.

Absolutly beautiful no matter how you look at it.
Looks like I've bought my last AMD CPU. Well, maybe one more that DOESN'T have this and then thats it.
Come on, no one would believe KITT's AI was written by the same team who went to work for MS. He never crashed.

I LIKE IT!!!!
I have over a dozen projects that this would let me finish without going to a machine shop.
Only Three questions;
Where can I get one?,
how much for the cartridges and
can the cartriges be refilled by the end user?

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to convert my car to electic soon and was thinking of a simple DC system. Now I think I'll give AC a good look.
Thanks again.

According to the statistics at least 10% of those women may be Homosexual, so whats your point?

Sometimes when we don't see things its because we don't want to see them, not that they are not there.
