I was going to buy the Treo 650, however, now that I have heard this, I'll be waiting for my GPS, Camera, MP3, WiFi, TV Control, Weather Station, Glucose monitor, Range Finder, MicroDrive, FM/AM, Fuelcell driven Phone PDA.
Well your certainly on the right track. They are concerned here in Canada: http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentS erver?pag ename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&call_pageid=971 358637177&c=Article&cid=1101424212114
So at least its not illegal to ship that water to Mars.
No doubt that it will truely happen in the future.
Hey, I just had a thought. Instead of smashing a comet into a copper slug. Why not try to drift its orbit to have a good probability to hit Mars. If they get good at it, they could starting doing that for the Moon so we don't have to take our own water. Then they could get a real good look at the inside of a comet. Instead of looking at bars of color shifted light.
I like the idea of using this with a PDA. Better yet, one that has phone capabilities like the Treo. Would be great to connect to a network download some MP3s, check email, makes some calls or read a book.
[rant] I need a mod refill. Please mod this up someone. The modding on this forum so far has been dismal. [/rant]
I thought Winter Games was the rage. But my favorite was a game called:
"The Game of Life" Basically, you had to answer questions as you went from birth to death. The responses determined how well you would do in life. For example, at birth: "You are in a new place. There is a strange looking man right in your face. Do you: 1) Smile and Laugh 2) Spit up 3) Cry
After answering, you are revealed that it's your rich Uncle. So depending on how you treated him increases you chances of bonding and success.
So when can we expect mods to cell phones? Please include Bruce Lee.
Also, I remember the Germans were pumping out lots of p0rn stuff for C64. Any chance to get the dirty Smurf version?
Anyone remember that utility that would make the 1541 belt out a tune by vibrating the heads? neatest thing! You could use that on the cellphone vibration device.
I did a bunch of research into this a while back. So if I get this wrong, I'm sure I'll be corrected here. Too lazy to look up my material.
Anyway, LEDs for anything is just too expensive. Your best bet is a T8 32W Fluoro for now. You get great efficiency and it won't burn the plant if its touching. On the down side, fluoros have poor penetration because the light has a greater distribution area. Fluoro floods are ok, but a lot of surface area is wasted reflecting into itself. So you really have to get them in close. I like T5s and T2s but they burn the plants if too close.
LEDs will become excellent choices for all kinds of things, especially plants.
The greatest advantage is that they can be designed to feed a particular part of the wavelength that plants specifically use for its life cycle. http://www.life.uiuc.edu/govindjee/paper/f ig5.gif Currently lighting technology wastes a lot of energy in the visible spectrum that the plant does not really use.
Anyway, the technology is here. Now we just have to wait for mass production.
If I have time I'll check out some links where I found the cheapest sources. Google it for now.

Well it's the start of a trend I hope.
I for one will always support fighting spam.
Collateral Damage?
Boo Hoo.
Also, it seems to me that the majority of Slashdot members don't like fighting spam because it's tagged as illegal or useless.
I for one will take the lesser of the evils.
Let's fight back for the sake of fighting back.
With all the intelligence on here you'd think there would be more suggestions and support than lamentation and hopelessness.
Go Lycos GO!
Attack Spammers!
I for one will now run this screensaver dedicated 24/7
Go Microsoft Go!
Sue spammers!
Die Rolex!
Die Nigeria!
Die Viagra!
Die Logos
Die Penise Enlargement!

...our new overlords?
Ahh..forget it.
Its like pissing in the wind, a guy has to go, but maybe its better to just turn your back on it.
At least I can tell my email server is working.
For now, I congradulate Lycos for at least doing something.
Now if only we can get Google on board.
...with the Lycos screensaver as a payload.
Something needs to be done.
I'm sick of Nigeria, Rolex, Logos, Viagra and all the other needless crap.

How about setting up a Gigabit network in that abandoned hotel set on Blade Runner.
Looks like Asia and should be able to compete without the billion dollar 4 year price with faster networking to boot!
Nice.
Although its going to be hard to represent that in a 2D pic, still it sure shows the feeling that we are progressing.
That pic looks like something out of Blade Runner.
Wish I could mod in my own forums.
Moderators...mod that reply informative.
lol

I have not yet found anything comparable.
Do you have Drive Music?
Sure wish they would put a conceptual diagram or rendered picture of said technology.
:->
:-(
I'm too lazy with my imagination.
Just spoon feed me will ya!
We are so far behind, its too much to ask... I know.
wow!
Now thats what I was thinking.
Its gotta be far less than 1Gb.
Just think...
you could fit that onto a keychain!
who woulda ever thought...typing away on my 64k...giving homage to my 1541!
lol.
:->
Yes I doooo agree.
I love to get paid
I for one welcome my new heterogenous overlords!
It only makes sense that these games are porting to devices with limited displays.
Now a C64 watch with 1Gb, (if thats what they would even amount to) of every game ever made.
Thats something I'd definately buy!
I'd mod this Informative, but Slashdot won't allow posting and modding in the same forum...for obvious reasons.
That is very sweet though.
Any PDA possibilies?
Hardware complexity can be reduced with homogenous environments.
Good planning, documentation and standards reduce complexity in software.
How much more do they have to complicate the issue?
Sweet!
I thought I was the only one ever to witness that.
Otherwise, I would have convinced myself I was dreaming.
Whoever made that was very sharp.

Bruce Lee!!!
Loved that one with the big Green guy that would run after you.
I'd like to see a picture of this.
Does anyone have a link?
Could it be possible to write a software filter that also prints yellow dots scrambling the dots that exist?
Never under estimate supply and demand.
I did a bunch of research into this a while back.

Great! Now I know where I can get ethically growing MJ.
It's the MJ growers that will get the greatest benefits from this technology.
Strike that.
It's the electric company they are stealing from that will benefit due to the use of less electricity.
