So, if you're actually working with 'some of the finest minds', why don't you tell us what they're working on that's better than GCD? Your one example seems to indicate that the software needs to manage the threads - like they did for the last 10 years - rather than letting the OS take care of all the applications threads on an as needed basis like GCD does.
And why do you mention that Apple wouldn't make it cross-platform? Do you think Microsoft will? At least Apple made GCD opensource. I *know* Microsoft won't do that.
Well, Apple has Grand Central Dispatch - which is the OS deals with the cores rather than the programs. Granted, it's only been since Snow Leopard, but it's much better than what Windows has.
No, none of those things are hard to program. Yet no one did, until Apple showed them how to do it right.
But those things are hard to program well. And that's what Apple excels at.
Three years after the original iPhone, the competitors are just now catching up to the complete package because Apple designed it - not just programmed it - so much better than anything else out at the time.

Transaction is copying some files, failing in the middle, and not rolling back those copied over??
Hint. It's not transaction. It's just a bad piece of software that fails badly at doing it's basic job. Handling files.

You assume WAAAAY too much about most people who go to Facebook or Myspace.
Heck, most of them are too stupid to quit the browser when their boss/co-worker/IT person walks in.
I always hack the hosts file of 'problem' employees to point to the main company website.
But just like you, they never seem to stop trying to get there.
Just google.cn it!
D'oh!
Special or default setting? There's a huge difference.
IF you like *all* of your web traffic to go through Opera's servers.
Seriously.
This is just a more mobile version of a scanner.

And then have to put a 2U PSU aux unit at the top :-)
Does this answer your question?

You're still missing the point.
Most iPhone/iPad apps DON'T HAVE A MENU BAR. Or a minimal one at best.
None of the WinMo, or most of the Android apps know how to deal without a menu bar.

The iPhone has printing, so I'm sure it will work on the iPad too.

It's not built in, but it can be added. Think of it as installing CUPS.
That's ok. None of the clones are released yet either.

Today I got an on site call. Mouse wasn't working right no matter what they did.
I literally rotated it 180 degrees. Problem solved before I even sat down.
Thanks, that will be $100!
Because of the sound, right?!?!?
I assumed too. Until I read there and elsewhere that people had trouble with ipfw and AFP - only.
Not sure why, haven't verified it myself.
Apparently, you didn't read down to where some commenters say it didn't work for AFP.
So you have enough storage to store a copy of the full uncompressed video for EVERY edit, of EVERY clip?
Not so simple then, eh?
Bullshit.
People working on uncompressed 1080p video use fiber SAN. Anything else is just too unreliable. And too small.
They're retarded in IT just like you're retarded in creative design.
Retard.
(And yeah, that describes me too. Even my stick figures are retarded.)
Why even spend that much? Just a NAS that does AFP.

Or even a USB drive and an Airport Base station on the network.
Or even just a ethernet to USB converter to a USB drive.

Ummm, 30days /6 patches = 5 days per patch.
Congratulations, you validated the article!
