Ok fine, killing trees is not good, but using a 400W projector for a couple hours on a meeting, will use some good amount of energy which probably won't come from a fotovoltaic solar cell or some other green energy; I haven't done the numbers, so I can't tell for sure which case is "ecologically worse"... but you can also use recycled paper can't you?
Well we mostly agree, but, even talking off my head, I dont think hardware has the same price in China than here...
And anyway, when it's relatively costly for you to pay for something, that you can easily get away not paying for, most people just won't do it.
Here in Spain, buying software licenses is still something new for most users, except medium-big companies, and ppl who buy branded machines. Piracy levels are really high here. But microsoft is almost omnipresent, and since the last four or five years they've started working with the BSA to get the money from those millions of users that they've had for quite a long time. Only this year have we seen the first suing of small computer shops.
In China this piracy hunt will take longer, and I'd say time is on free software side...
I don't think microsoft are too worried about not getting income from China, as long as they don't use and establish a free OS.
I'd say they'd rather give 'em free copies of their software for years, than have them use linux.
And my guess is that chinese salaries and income are not going to buy many microsoft's licenses...
I doubt many of Debian's greatest contributors would have been there building stuff for these years had the organization been different. Much of Debian's beauty and attractive for many is based precisely on its 'loose' or rather free structure.
If it survives, or if it will disappear we do not know yet, but it right now its offspring have shown they are really strong and effective, and I guess thats one of the main reasons-to-be for almost any entity, be it living or algorithmic.
I have demonstrated absolute unrefutable

or god can claim such Truth manifestation.
The academic brainwashed mind is corrupt
and can't comprehend Cubic magnificence.
"Why not the Time Cube?"
The only reason is educated stupidity.
Greenwich Time is a Lie
... I still quite don't get if we get time travel or no time travel though!
I would really like to know where do you find such big differences between Hitler and a clueless baboon (though he may had been a powerful one, but clueless anyway...)
I have 3 intels (AOL dot station) bought them for nothing, they are celeron 300s with 64MB base RAM, they have this nifty bios where you have all kind of boot options (including network PXE and USB...)
Besides, my personal view is that you must have very specific needs, or be a student and have plenty of free time on your hands, to use a compile-all distro...
all the buzz i've heard about vista is exclusively about beatiful (stupid) gui features.
i have yet to read about sumthin which is what we all understand as an OS improvement.
then it maybe just that i'm european plus drunk!
Me too I have enough spare time, and have just found out that something is terribly wrong out there... expanding your investigation I searched for "windows" on both of them... guess what happened...
MSN : Results 1-15 of about 34568019 containing "windows"
Google : Results 1 - 100 of approximately 121,000,000 for windows. (0.22 segundos)
I guess google are being seduced by the dark side ???
I'd daresay that Gilb's law's meaning is nearer to something more like "anything that can be quantified"... I mean, there are no units in which you can quantify the symphonies' quality or other subjective affairs. But if the thing you wanted to measure in the beginning, is measurable in certain units, then surely any approximation is better than no idea at all...
We're working to resolve our technical difficulties, and will have our pages back up just as soon as we can. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience and understanding.... i didnt think theyd be slashtdotted so soon??
I take it with aged brown rum, and squeezed lemon... Deeelicious in a hot day!
1. Go to Sudan 2. Have sex with other ppl's wives 3. Pay for them 4. Lots of wives! (Hmmm I am thinking of a few wives of other people that I know...)

The key is to remember there is no wall...
I couldn't care less about not having mega star marketeed artists... So this must be good.

LOL!
U.S. lawsuits are merrier and merrier all the time! Very few surrealist artists had as much imagination as some lawyers do!
Sure... but not all other countries can say the re-elected Bush (after knowing his father ...)
All those variables are subjective, and as such susceptible to change from, say, one century to the next. So they are not fixed measuring units!
