oh no doubt. i ahve to give bill credit for doing what he does VERY well. i have to give credit to all the pop singers out there for milking people for their money while not producing anything musical.
my point is simply that they dont worry about size at all.
not sure why it was still modded flamebait, tho...
regardless of microsofts ability(or inability, whichever) to produce good software, it is never small. how can "compact" and "microsoft" be in teh same sentence...
okay, perhaps, "microsoft's focus on security is compact."
before you flamebait me all to hell, its a joke and i use windows almost exclusively because it runs the software i need to run.
is it difficult to get old versions of BSD? really old versions of windows/dos are so small that they are kept around online.
youre right, tho, why not all the floppy linux distros? there are quite a few of those that are obviously less than 1.4MB. are there floppy bsd installs? ive had a few linux boxes, but i dont know much about BSD...
i agree... emulate what you ahve to, but at least install the ones that will, natively. i have to give him credit for having all those usuable on one machine, but it isnt all that impressive. sure, some of the hacks are reasonably cool(linux, osx, and xp on the same machine? i was thinking of that just the other day), but i cant get over the fact that he didnt even natively install linux, *BSD, etc.
in (not so) short, he ended up with a cool setup, but i could have been better.
OTH, depending on how well virtual pc runs (never used it) this might be better than native, tho... he doesnt have to restart the hardware to switch between all these.
apparently you cant download it anymore, but i used to use the g4 next to my dualhead 2k/debian box here as a jukebox. i wanted to be able to play directly from the cd and itunes couldnt do that(then, i dont know about know, i dont use macs much) so i downloaded winamp.71 for mac. it was a little wierd, but it got job done just fine. i could probably still get the installer from that machine if anybody wants it
is figure out which one of us is going to download this and torrent it. all the rest of us will stop downloading immediately.
sure, thatll work
but seriously, my wife is very interested in linguistics(spanish major, almost a russian minor, some esl) and im curious as to how easy this will be to use for someone with no linux experience
i think the point is that it is for hobbyists or students like myself. this way, i can manage a solaris box w/o needing to find a cheap old sparc box or spend way too much money on a newer one. i can just install this for free using vmware(yeah, i downloaded it for free too, i plan on buying a copy when $ is available).
i bet students are the main reason for this. sun wants to get more young people using their OS.
the rather quiet but climactic battle scene was very interesting, i thought. it added a wierd sense of surrealness to it to have a huge battle be softly commensing. i gave it a few points just for doing it differently, too
i should have a bt in another 2-3 weeks
no doubt, im still getting about 10k. either most /.ers dont care or that is one hell of a server
now, nobody download that vid. let me do it and ill let everybody know about how it looks

sure
you'll find everything you need there. just type in "america's army" in the little text box. it works for most anything, in fact.
okay, okay, i wont be a prick.
here ya go
so, what you mean is that it means exactly the same thing as ugly and is therefore superfluous.
its different, sure. how is it more appropriate? its the best definition because its what you need it to mean?
perhaps what you wanted is a very similar word, just "ugly."
right... which is strikingly similar to what parent said:

just my opinion
