    You have to learn what each hand means, and what each position means in the context of each hand. Once you learn it, it becomes straightforward and easy, but it's definitely the opposite of intuitive.

    Which is something my kids had no problem with. They could all tell the time from an analog clock by age four.

    Database work: The dullest job in all of the computer industry.

    You've, obviously, never worked with a proper database. We don't need these rotten rows and columns, what's wrong with a hierarchical database. There is only one proper database - IBM's DL/I. And only one true implementation of DL/I in IBM's IMS. IMS gets you to, actually, work hard to create your database.

    Rows and columns, I spit on your rows and columns.
    Referential integrity - who needs RI, you get that for free with IMS.

    PS/2 is not hotpluggable. It is possibly to short-circuit your motherboard and fry your controller (not likely, but I saw at least one broken mobo after a failed hotplug attempt)

    True, very true. I fried a RS6K motherboard doing that.

    I love the USB optical mouse that came with my T30 Thinkpad.

    It's unlikely, unless your American government has just annexed Holland and Nigeria while we weren't looking.

    CAN-SPAM doesn't work, because it flies in the face of European anti spam legislation and because it was n't put forward as an INTERNATIONAL treaty.

    In the United Kingdom we still don't have a cross ref between births and deaths. So the scheme used in Fredrick Forsyth's Day of the Jackal to get a fake id (by obtaining a copy of a birth cert for someone who died in childhood) still works.

    As long as I could get a fake id that way, it doesn't matter what controls are in place. I'll show up as a valid UK Citizen with a valid identity.

    Wake up UK, control identity theft first. This nazism (which has just been proposed by the UK Government http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3375711.stm ) doesn't solve the problem of terrorism.

    Didn't anyone learn anything from the IRA troubles in Northern Ireland and the Basque Seperatist troubles in France/Spain.

    I remember that exact same reaction to the Viking landers back in 1976 when Dr Carl Sagan (1934-1996) was in charge of the Mars missions.

    It doesn't seem to be using any particular vulnerabilities in MSN. It depends on users to click on a URL they receive in a message.

    So that is easy to fix by adding an item to my SquidGuard http://www.squidguard.org/ database.

    I doubt they'd want to retrofit this to my 1952 Citroen. So I'll be sailing past all the modern cars that get stopped. The UK Government already fleece us with 4,500 speed cameras that are installed to generate revenue rather than improve road safety. This is the obvious next move. Next they'll be fining us for walking at more than 3MPH. Bring back the red flag, say I.
