No, dipshit. NT did not have as good security system as even other OSes did. Win2K, XP, etc still have users needing to be administrators on their machines for many versions of various software to run. This is a problem. Security != password to sign on. As for your stupid comment about the most important data being the user's own data, that is a poor planning problem. The user's data should be backed up if it is that important. It is still much better than say losing the entire machine and possibly the data of MULTIPLE users. Try logic sometime, it might stick.

If the virus were not able to compromise anything aside from the user level crap, then the OS would not need a reinstall. They would need a restore of the user's directory only. I would put that at maybe 2hrs at best with even somewhat older technology.

You do not have the same issue as with combustion engines that have an oil pan that needs to have viscous fluid distributed around moving parts to keep it from failing. There is evidence to both support and negate both the "Keep it on" and "Turn it off" camps.

If we got rid of parties, people would have to vote for someone based on their merits, not based on which club they belong to and are beholden to. We could actually have people who are running who are the best for the job. No more voting down a line either. Create a thinking government.>

If this were not the case, then you should never suggest intel products due to the P90 bug, the 820 chipset recall, 1.13Ghz P3 recall, the 600Mhz Katmai P3 microcode update that was needed to make it stable, the problem with >600Mhz Coppermine P3s and Creative, the problem with >800Mhz Itaniums having issues that required them being downclocked, etc etc. Intel has its shares of problems. Compare that to AMD's problems and their new technology of thermally and otherwise efficient chips and your case is meaningless.

Intel beating AMD to something is nothing to be proud of. With their money and R&D budget, they should soundly crack the whip on AMD on a regular. The fact that they don't should be a testament to how well AMD works with their money and talent to design a product that is superior.
