I can't believe the parent poster got Score:4, Insightful for this rubbish post.
it's biased and based on no facts I have seen. It's an opinion post and should be moderated as such >:(
the ridiculous includes:
- No one buys a Mac for the hardware
- Apple blathers on and on about how they're a hardware company, but that's bull. They're a software company...
- No one is going to buy a Mac now to run Windows on it
- They're going to buy a Mac because they've always wanted to try OS X, but they have a few stubborn applications that they need to run on Windows, and until now couldn't justify the risk of switching and losing access to them...
so, no one buys a Mac because of the hardware? that is just flat out wrong! that's 90% the reason why people buy them! people see the hardware *first*, not the OS. The 'sexy' hardware along with the 'promise' of a good OS, is why they buy.
Apple does boast about their hardware and for good reason! You are letting us all in on what Apple 'really' means when they do this? give me a break! Apple knows what they are doing... for the most part.
Why exactly would no one buy the Apple hardware to run Windows on it? Apple was not going to allow Windows to run ont his new hardware ever, but now the song has changed... why? because no one wants that? you are an idiot fanboy.
People will buy these because they secretly always wanted to use OSX? no, maybe they know that they don't want to run windows anymore, but that doesn't just defualt to OSX.
please re-modrate this garbage to -1; troll
I come from the school that all the OS's have their strengths and weaknesses. It's like saying my religion is better than yours.
yeah? well, slashdot is 'free' if you pay a monthly fee for internet connectivity.
anyway, you can get free 2-month subscription cards to xbox live and then cancel before they bill you. You need one of the 2-month free cards, but they are easy to get.
whoa, can you walk and chew gum at the same time?
The game is an achievement in playability. The controls are near perfect as well as the graphics. But then again, there's a lot in Nija Gaiden that is a throwback to old-school games and everyone can agree that old-school games were much harder than the majority of modern games.
you should stick to Pokèmon.
XBOX Live isn't the same thing as a PC that's Online...
If you are playing Everquest on your PC, you can't see your friends playing Age Of Mythology...
It's a central server system that everyone logs into no matter what game they are playing.
It's a SERVICE and last time I checked, you paid for those - i.e. dry cleaning, aol, U.S. Citizen, etc...
actually, it's more of a content download than a patch.
new enemies, new weapons and new costumes as opposed to new camera system, increased difficulty and increased speed.
It's hard to call increased difficulty and speed a patch since they are not addressing user complaints or bugs - I doubt there were many that complained that Ninja Gaiden was too easy. The camera system could be looked at as a patch since so many complained about not being able to control it, but you really can't call it a bug either.
get a free 2month subscription to Live and then cancel it.
The GC's been cracked!
There have been GC Disc images available for download on the net for quite some time, but until recently, there was no way to burn or play them.
Now there is a program you run on your computer and it streams the game data from your PC to the GameCube via ethernet.
spiffy!
I only know a few people that have modded Xboxes and NONE of them pirate games! They use them for media centers or to play their Xbox games backed up - well, actually their children play Xbox backed up Xbox games from the harddrive - no discs to lose or scuff-up!
This argument is similar to the Music Biz screaming bloody murder about P2P's. But studies are more consistently showing that people are much more trustworthy than the greedy Suits so readily want all of us to believe.
Chess is considered a mind-building game, so if Chess is converted to the Video Game medium, is it then, by default, a brainless activity? This obviously proves that brainless activity rests within the activity (and therefore the activator).
TV is the same way, I could watch a brainless reality show (although these do sometimes provide insight into human behaviors) or an informative documentary about science or a scientist.
Video Games ARE artistic expression, well most of them anyway. The expressive part comes from the developers though, not the gamers. A LAN party playing CS wouldn't be an artisitic expression, but the artists, coders and designers of CS have created something from nothing while incorporating many different artistic skills in the process - the total is almost always more than the sum of it's parts.
playing a game/watching tv for 3 hours straight is overdoing it? bah! The Return of the King got 11 Academy Awards for making most of america losers then! c'mon man, losen up! Almost every Old School game would require much more time to complete than your average 3D adventure today, there's just more of them available.
Why can't people just accept Video Games as a legitimate diversion? I don't care to watch sports games on TV, but most of America can be found on the couch for several hours every Sunday. I find this diversion to be more brainless than making decisions concerning your own virtual fate.

It's amazing how much "growing up" can happen in just 1 year... that's a whole lotta livin!
