That makes me think about the possibilities. With batteries that can charge so QUICKLY, why stop at simply UPS for computers? What if they made a battery large enough to be used as a backup generater for a hospital, for example. But why stop there!?
Instead of being simply a "backup" generator, why not have a massive battery, that powers the entire hospital? This battery could automatically do it's quick recharge at certain intervals to insure that the hospital has enough power to last for the next month or so. Now, what if they placed these quick charge batteries in everything we need electricity for? Electricity grids would receive less stress throughout the day and would have to start operating more efficiently. Think of the possibilities there are.
Sorry, kind of a tangant, but the idea seems really cool
I've never seen firefly, but Farscape was definately humorous! Farscape was one of the few shows where the characters actually had ATTITUDE, and often ATTITUDE PROBLEMS! And the way they made up swear words to get past the sensors, how original is THAT?! (ie. Dren, Frel)
These are from the episode KANSAS:
John: You all might want to stay out of sight. We don't want to screw up the universe more than I already have.
John (to younger John): We don't hit. We may shoot people sometimes but we don't hit.
D'Argo: Chiana has already told me a few words: Yes, No, Bite Me. That's all I need to know.
I heard the dairy industry is looking to give samples of their products away via an internet pyramid scheme. Simply get 5 other people to join, and you get your sample of milk mailed to you in 3-4 weeks.
Yes, 10 years from now, you can own Microsoft branded Dell Boxes for practically nothing!
Unfortunately, if you want an OS you're gonna have to pay $999.
Not to mention, because of the EU if you want MS to run with media player, (The only way they'll package it) it's an extra 100 bucks guys!
Probably get tagged as redundant later, but I believe you could use Dual Assault Rifles in the first Unreal Tournament. Not only that, but you can turn the "gats" sideways with the secondary fire button.
With that said, I was glad when I found out they brought it back in UT2004 as well.
If somebody wrote a virus for the mac, regardless of 3% of the market, it will get front page over any security risk in windows. It would be a first for MacOS X. A virus for Windows is just like rain in the winter. Hardly news worthy.
I just played for the first time the demo on my mac, and it seems totally rushed. The orange and blue interface? Ugh, not only is it ugly, but the widgets are boxy and don't look smooth at all. There are no easy "Fastest, Normal, Best, etc." presets for graphics, so I had to manually turn a few of them down. I also lowered the default 32 channels to 8 in the ut2004.ini file in ~/application support/Unreal Tournament 2004 to get a huge speed boost. Judging by the single player level in the demo, there are new objects in the world which look cool, but weapons fire do not and look considerably smaller than before. I do appreciate the vehicles/torrets, and dual assault rifles has a very nice return in this game from UT2000. Oh, and as of right now around 10AM on Thursday, I'm unable to connect to the network server (I could earlier today at 7:30AM PST)
If notifying customers about the possibility that something they bought can harm them is against the privacy policy, I think the privacy policy needs to be updated.
As long as they don't use the card information to sell to advertisers, or to laugh at my purchase of 16 rolls of toilet paper, I wouldn't have a problem.
I was downloading mp3's off the hotline connect client 1.2.3 for mac when I was in Junior High. In fact, I placed a music video I downloaded along with audio files in a HyperStudio presentation I made for the class. I was having a blast downloading off their LAN since at that time I only had a 33.6kbps modem and Earthlink at home. The teacher even burned a cd for me with all my mp3's on it (she didn't know what they were then!) and said I accidently left them on the computer. They were using the brand new G3 Desktops and Bondi Blue iMacs at the time. Man that takes me back. I guess that would have made me 12 or 13 at the time.
I disagree on your point however that it is going to be hard to convince kids that CD's are worth money. Although I havn't bought a CD in years, I appreciate the value of having a booklet and a case for CD's of your favorite bands. For me however, I'm near a computer more than I am a traditional stereo, so MP3 is the format for me.
Get sued by the RIAA, get a spot in a Pepsi commercial!
That's awsome!
The money people get from Pepsi for appearing will help pay settlement fee's and the like. I'm liking this.
...I stand corrected. Thanks.
But what about addresses that one would type into say KDX or Carracho. Are those going to be super long?
And in MacOS, the colon can't be used in filenames because of hierarchy structure of the system. I wonder what will become with that.
I agree. GarageBand is worth well over $50 by itself!
These are not CHILDS apps! (Although a child could easily learn them) they are hardcore apps for picture, video, and music digitizing.
It wouldn't make sense for any company to spend the resources making these wonderful programs, and continue to just give them away for free.
When NOT running the new verison of iCal, you'll notice user process "iCalAlarmScheduler" running, which I never noticed before. Turn off by selecting "Turn off alarms when iCal is not open" in the iCal preferences.
A guy down the hall from my dorm apparently recorded every song in his library from cd to his computer as 64kbps WMA. To top it off, he wouldn't use computer speakers, but speakers from his boom box.
Sure, the music was good to listen to, but it was degraded as hell and just really bugged an audiophile like me.
But he didn't give a damn either way. I guess some peoples ears are just more sensitive.
Wait, if Apple hardly directly makes money off of a 99cent service, how does WalMart expect to come up with a profit when doing it for 11cents less?
Yea, I know they do it inside their stores, but with digital music files? I just don't get it!

In other news, police warn wears of Rolex brand watches to cover them up in dirt, to trick muggers.
They also suggest to owners of BMW's and Mercedes to drive on a spare tire, and put those tacky bullet hole stickers on the side.
A similar article was on MacBytes months ago.

There goes my senior thesis!
When going out, always make sure your e-mail is covered with an even layer of an SPF of at least 15. Especially in the summer time.

I have enough issues with typing 127.0.0.1 Are they going to make me start typing 0000::000000:ff0000:00000:f00000 now?
It doesn't work with iTunes! Next article please. Thankyou.
Apple Legal AHOY!
OOoo Ogg is open source! It's free! It sounds so much better! Screw that nobody uses it, get off your high horse and download some MP3's.

Don't the PC iPods use the FAT filesystem? Coincidence?
If the black pointer isn't enough, look at the pop-up box underneath it. That's the default theme for MacOS 8 and 9.
No, it is a mac. MacOS 9.
