After RTFA... I've decided it's in my best interest to download one of the listed CDs from the Interwebs for free. Then, after burning it to CD, producing a receipt of my web request for a torrent and finding enough stamp monies for my envelope, I will send my nice NON-drm-riddled into the company with my full name and address for some fun lawsuit action.
It did not specify that the CD must be the original did it? AND Do you think they will give me sweet iTunes downloads for the frees?
When I was at Blockbuster recently, the customer in front of me asked about the "the end of late fees". This is exactly what the employee told the customer, word for word...
"This lets you keep the rental for a couple of days extra, just to allow you extra time."
That was pretty much about it, nothing about the restocking fee, which was just appeared on their price list one day. Nothing about after 30 days, we charge your credit card on file for the rental value of the rental.
The reason for the lawsuit is simple... they changed the way they do their rentals, because they suspect that you could accidentally forget aobut the rental and then keep it too long, but then since they will debit your credit card, by the time you find out, it's too late.
Now, here is the problem, you were NEVER told about the restocking fee or the 30 days late we charge you. That is down right wrong. They should tell you EXACTLY what will happen. Even in the commerical, there are no little words at the bottom of the screen or some crazy fast talking guy.
It's riding VERY close on false advertising, but it is the end of late fees... they just have restocking fees and purchase charges!
Just wait till the Segway runs out of juice while Grannie is going to the Kountry Kitchen. Lassie might have to tell Timmy that Grannie fell over because she forgot to plug it back into the wall.
Ok... they aren't safe operating cars... so how is a Segway any different? I think it would be worse because at least you have a car protecting you when Grannie hits ya.
So isn't the megapixels rating a farse?

70 Megapixel Webcam

So the camera spins on it's internal axis to capture a single image that is freakin huge. Ok... that is great... actually kinda cool.
But it's NOT really a 70 megapixel camera it can't take all those 70 megapixels at one time.
That would be like producing a digital camera that would shift it's lens really really fast in the 4 diagonal directions to piece together an image that was 4 times the original size.
I think they are going for marketing points on this one. What is honestly stoping a camera company from putting out a camera that actually shoots at 5MP but they double the image size and interpolate the subpixels and say it's a 10MP camera?
When I grab stuffs off the internet at 72dpi and I need to enlarge it, I use the same technique. I just think the whole MP thing is becoming just like the MHZ craze that started when AMD tossed the Athlon on the market.

So when did a-la-carte mean cheaper? Go to a mexican restaurant and order a 3 enchilada meal, and order 1 crispy taco on side. Unless you are going to Taco Bell... that damn crispy taco is going to cost you just about as much as 1.5 enchilada!
The cable company is going lobby against this big time. If someone just wants TechTV only at their office, it's going to cost them big time. The cable company would at least like to make some profit off of everyone of their subscribers.
Thats my $0.02... oh yeah forget... since I'm only making one comment today, I'm charging more... that'll be $3.50.
I seem to have a hard time thinking about this. Lets say you DO get this uber phat pipe of 1gb or even 10gb. What data are you going to fill the pipe up with even if you can use it to 100%? The hard drive speeds of today can't even keep up with 1gb ethernet. Unless you are caching all the porn you can download in RAM, I doubt your computer will have the ability to actually save all the data you are downloading at that rate. Has anybody even thought about this yet?
I hope the FCC+FBI doesn't start monitoring my IM conversations... With my typing... they need to censor everything I say! Shit... stupid FCC FBI fuckers!
With RH losing a lot of stock in the tech world, I foresee Debian becoming more mainstream. The only problem about this is, Debian is usually an elitist group of users. Many users of Debian before I switched (06/2003), would just say... "You use Redhat? What are you a girl or something?" I just told them, "Bah... you stink! RPM is the coolest thing ever!" Well, I wish I could have gone back to the days when I was stupid.:) The new Debian install almost makes it as easy to install as Windows. I don't think a GUI is needed for installing an OS onto a machine, plus it causes overhead in the installer and on the disk.
IMHO... someone should create a "smart" installer that says... "I see you have Windows installed. I can remove it for you. Please press return."
I don't think it would be any problem. A good scripter/programmer could easily figure it out. I wish I could...

With all these legit copies of Office 2003... I wonder if the licenses are transferrable?! If they are... sell them on Ebay! I for one will be purchasing one for $10... plus $15 shippping.:P
What is SCO going to gain by suing a well known company? Nothing! All they are doing is setting themselves up for the worst countersuit. The suit SCO is going to bring against "teh Fortune 1000 company" is going to get stuck in court until the IBM/SCO suit is finished. Then and only then is this NEW suit going to be resolved. I hope for SCO's sake, everyone in that company has somewhere else to go.

You would not know HOW many times someone has been like, "Yah! I know the answer! it's 1!" Some even say 0. Ugh...
This one makes you think... answer is simple!

Submit for a patent... then go to a business. Otherwise, they could steal it from you when you show them the idea.

Make sure the device you get accepts audio thru the device and can do the recording of the audio without you pluging the device into your audio card.
It will save you the hassle of trying to make sure the levels are correct.
I just built out a HTPC this week... consider these sites for some basic info...

Whatever you do, don't run 'X -configure' in it! It hard locks the system.
PS: There is a bug in the libpam-runtime, so have fun doing any sort of apt-get upgrade action.

Maybe I'll put up a site about the disadvantages of outsourcing, then maybe the US Gov will try to ban it?!
Just a wild idea!

That would work... but if George W. gets his way... I think the script would be more like this...
/US/* /world/* /US
rm -rf
mv -rf
nice 20 $US
nice -20 $WORLD
Yay!
I would wonder if you would need a lawyer in this case?
:P
"Linux? What? From this nmap portscan I did just two seconds ago, it says that my system is running Windows 3.1. What are you talking about?"
Heh... I could just see that one... Judge looks dumbfounded and dismisses case.
Don't throw it away... they might be tacking on interest, legal fees and anything else they could add just to keep their business afloat!
