Hehe yeah... I would call this cue the wilhelm scream of anime, it's a frantic little piece, but I have heard it in excel saga, azumanga daioh (I know, same studio), flcl, many others. In FLCL it's when ninamori grows the curry-bun-spider thing out of her head and runs around the school. In A.D. it's year 3 sports fest during the relay race.
I am going to try and find out what it is, just for S&G's.
FYI, WTF I am talking about are the cues, not the soundtracks. I think you could have figured this out by thinking a little more.
And the pillows only do about 1/2 the music on the FLCL soundtrack, there is also a lot by many other groups (3 CDs worth), but it's good to know you can at least read liner notes.
If you want specifics, there is a cue on episode 23 of azumanga daioh that is also heard on episode 4 of FLCL. It's orchestral, and it is not Oranges and Lemons, nor is it the Pillows. It's also not referenced in the credits, so I am pretty sure it's something ADV came up with to cover a rights-managed cue in the original.
You know, I was thinking of this last night. I own several ADV titles, all produced by different japanese studios. The crazy thing is, there is a lot of reusing of the same musical cues. There is one that I am getting entirely sick of, I couldn't name it, but it's used in FLCL, Azumaga Daioh, etc.
Another "clue" to my guess that they DON'T is that in Azumaga Daioh, during a part in which they are supposed to be performing a traditional japanese dance, the music playing is "grab your partner" hoedown music (ADV is based in texas). I will DL a fan-subbed original rip from japanese TV to check this particular queue.
I don't know if you know this, but a lot of american series lose the rights once things make it to DVD, i.e. on DVD the cues they had limited licenses to change to open or cheaper ones. There was a big article on thsi somewhere recently, if I can find the link I will post it, because this frustrates some people greatly.
Man, great point. I own all three consoles, the only game I play of late is Katamari Damacy. All the shading, shadows, pixels and wireframes in the world can't make Halo 3 interesting. Anyone wanna buy a gamecube and xBox? I'll trade em both for Katamari Damacy 2.
Wow, the database made crime drop! Is this the same person that wrote george dubya's economic plan? Is it possible to create a logic-check as a browser plugin, so when you type something (e.g. tax breaks for rich people will give boost the economy, a database lowered crim 16%, et al) on shaky logical foundations, you get a red underline?
been using my Clie for a few years on OS 9.2, OS 10.2 and OS 10.3 with no synch problems (using the palm synch software from palm.com). If Palm no longer supports Apple, I guess all of us Mac geeks will no longer support Palm, hehe. Like anyone cares. But, It seems that mac people buy more toys than PC people, as we have already sold our soul for a more expensive machine in the first place. But I suppose that fact is much obscured by the much greater PC userbase. Does this mean, however, that the OTHER palm OS will still support mac synching?
By the time Gollum got chucked into the fire, I had to pee so bad I was HOPING there was no scouring of the shire. And if you are gonna write a review of a movie, please at least read a little (of course there is descriptions of the battle of Gondor, as there are many rallying speeches given by the leaders- did you read Cliff's notes or something, hehehe). I thought it was a wonderful end to the trilogy and I only hope someone does the Hobbit soon...
