I've been thinking about doing this for a while, and I just may do it now.
All ya gotta do to cool your pc down (granted not to the -8billion that these guys do) would be to pick up an old auto-defrosting fridge that nobody wants anymore, cut or otherwise remove the barrier between the freezer and the refrigerator compartment (just to get it that much cooler), Take the door off (or leave it on and do what I'm going to say next if you want to get really fancy) and put a piece of insulating foamboard up where the door was.
Take the covers off of your case(s) and put them in the fridge. Cut holes where the floppy/cdrom/etc will be so you can still get to them. cut a corner out of the foam board to run power in/kbd etc out.
Done. A cooled system. (or an array of cooled systems:)
Just dont try and use the non-autodefrosting fridge unless you dont like your computer(s).
I think when I get back home I'll start looking for a used fridge:)

I've been drooling about quad processor 'puters for a while now and I got a question.
I've had a dual ppro for a while now (tiz only a dual board, so lets just assume its a quad for my question). Could I slap a third chip in for a total of 3 processors or does it have to be 4?

When I was your age I had to visit/. on a 1200 baud data coupler on noisy lines on a dumb terminal with a broken picture tube... butt nekked in the winter. (hehe, 'nuf of that, I was just inspired)
It was kinda nice just coming over to/. and the page was the page. comments were comments. if you didnt like the comments, tough... dont read them.
But if we went back to this kinda page... what would rob and the other code junkies end up doing?:) Coding is fun... and I believe (no matter how wrong I really am) that this simple fact is the basis of many of the changes we see here on/. I'm not saying that these new features arent really damn cool. I really like the ability to configure the/boxes. It all just started to get over the top to me when the moderation came in.
I guess it just comes down to the fact that if I didnt like/didnt agree with a comment... I just ignored it. Twas nice and simple.

Man, I was playing with these things about a year and a half/two years ago. They were a nifty toy, but thats about it. For a computer screen, they sucked... not enough resolution. For games, they were neat, but the 3d effect was minimal. The head tracker wasnt accurate enough... you would look 90 degrees in one direction, but it would register less of a movement...like 60 degrees or so. That got REALLY annoying. Plus you really look like a dork wearing these things.
But I must say... playing descent in 3d (sorta) on a virtual 50" tv with a space-orb is pretty damn cool. I was standing in the middle of my dorm room wired up to my computer with the orb and the headset. Drew a pretty decent crowd too:) (I whooped anyones ass who wanted to play me... with that orb and the ability to look around I was unstoppable:)

Hmmm... well, switching to a new domain name hosted from his house on that T3 line with the slew of Alphas behind it would count as an associated cost associated with the transfer. (or the hardware of your choice, I'm not trying to start a flame war on what the best OS/Hardware is:) ) Just gotta make sure that ya put in there the line would be paid for for 3 full years to make up for the 3 years they just didnt notice the domain name. Getting a T3 to yer house would suck if you had to pay for it:)

I ran a pretty intense ftp server for a while and when I had it running NT, it would crap out all the time. I took the same exact hardware over to linux and it just kept chugging along. Pretty nifty shit.
