Ok, so symantec is going after MS for an anti-trust suit? um...WTF? MS used to be notorious for security flaws. They clean up their act, try to pull together a new OS, and try to include decent security.
I'm sorry Symantec, but i don't think they're trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes and get away with a monopoly. I'd say they are trying to get their act together and get past their notoriety for sucking at security.
Why pay for Norton when it can't find viruses that i need it to find? I'm sorry but i'd rather use bundled MS software, if that fails i'll look for a free alternative, i'm not gonna spend $45 or whatever Norton costs these days to get a half a$$ed virus scan. I made that mistake two years ago, i don't feel like paying them more money for more half baked protection. I'll try what MS has to offer. I think the've made some improvements.
"The question is whether the young upstarts who have built a hugely profitable business on Google's anti-corporate image are on the way to following Gates's path from bright young turk to monopolistic behemoth."
well i don't know any bright young turks who wouldn't mind becoming monopolistic behemoths.
Visual Studio & .NET are getting better!

Disclaimer for.NET haters: Mono --open source dev tool for.NET. It's nice i've got it on my gentoo partition:-)

The MS bashing is quite disturbing. Well i know that/. is pretty much a open-source favoring crowd, but MS Visual Studio 2005 is a nice improvement upon the previous edition. The gripes most had about the old version have been fixed, and there are quite a few great improvements, including my favorite improved intellisense!:-)
While i may have made myself flamebait, i think that if you are honestly interested in VS, you wont be disappointed by the new improvements they've made to Visual Studio.
Here is a list of people who have the name of William Gates in the state of New York.

Someone tell the Microsoft lawyers!
Hi, i'm Bill Gates.
i just got a mini powersupply for christmas because my old powersupply and fans were too noisy? Hmm, too many late night programming sessions i'm assuming?
I looked at my recently received cash, and then to my course schedule for next semester. Thank you state and national debt, i will now be spending all of my Christmas money on college tuition.
If you are considering the mini, have you considered using a mini-ITX board? I'm currently using one in my computer which i have built into a modded Game Boy Advance gaming case. It's quite small, in fact, it's sitting on my bookshelf in my bedroom.
Just an idea.

we all loved Rocky, but by the time Rocky V came around we'd had enough.
is it just me, or is "something about it," http://www.mediacircus.net/armageddon.html linking through to penthouse.com?
WTF?
i wanna see this situation put on reality tv. ...geek kid is taught social skills and is put in the "real world" to test em out.

Horray for me, and a broke new year.
