I've never understood why a shuttle takes off from a completely vertical position. I mean, doesn't it take the greatest amount of force to set an object in motion, rather than keep it going?
I've seen prototypes on NASA's site for a shuttle that takes off like a plane. Wonder why it hasn't gotten off the ground yet.
Let's be frank. Four candidates in the debate was a gong show. Throw in the Marijuana Party, the Rhino Party, the Communist Party, and the Greens, and really, how much coverage are you going to get? Two hours and you get to hear very little.
I suggest we break it into two debates: the debate everyone cares about and the debate for the crap no one's interested in. That's fair:)
Actually, I think it's the government's place to save us from incompetant parenting. If a parent thinks it's okay they can go take the kid to a violent movie or buy them a violent video game. Truth be told, it saves us from the asshole parent who can't be bothered to give a shit about their kids.
If the parents approve of the game they can buy/rent it for their kids...
Sometimes a parent wants to be able to send their kids to a video store to rent a game without needing to be over their shoulder to ensure it isn't a graphic game.
And before you bring on bullshit freedom crap, keep in mind that movie theatres have had this rule for ages. This is an extension of the movie theatre rule IMO.
I wonder how much more room it takes up compared to the Microsoft Index Service... I mean, the index service is pretty decent (granted not as fast though)...
How does this compare to IBM's P3P? I know privacy policy and EULA are kinda similar in a way; a EULA can have a Privacy Policy... Why not just expand on IBM's P3P idea to cover the EULA or whatever for web sites?
Fair argument. Now let's hypothesize for a moment. There are some people who are immune to aids, and we think it's in their system. We determine that by cloning embryos, that we can cure AIDS. Do we start cloning babies to kill them for the cure to AIDS? I'd hate to be forced to come up with an answer for that question... I know it's a lot of "what-if's", but it's something I foresee us having to deal with in the future.

Ditto here. easier to code in FF and then port the app for IE, rather than the other way around.
. About time someone put an effort into car MP3 playback
MP3 CD Players for cars have been on the market for over two or three years now - I jumped on it early with the Aiwa, and when it got stolen I got a KDC-MP8017 from Kenwood.
Hard drive players have been around just as long, but they were much pricier, and loading MP3's involved taking the "deck" out and plugging it into your peecee.
I'd love a hard drive player, but I have Jeep, and I actually go 4x4ing with it, and the shock would ruin the hard drive...
My favourite would be a mp3-cd player that takes dvd-r disks. That's coming from what I've heard.
There's a lot more wrong with the chicken industry than just that. If you've ever been to a commercial chicken farm (i assume you have?), you would (should?) be disgusted by the amount of mutated chickens. Chickens with breasts so big they are falling forward from the weight of them.
And how the hell does Hooters serve chicken wings that are the size of turkey wings anyway? They seem to be 30% larger than the chicken wings you get at a pub.
IMO, Genetic modification (and steroid use too) has gotten out of control. Until there's adequate testing, I'll stick to free range chicken personally.
but why when the war driver can drive another block and deal with the next unsecured access point? Using WEP is the same as using the club. Sure, you don't protect a Ferrari with it. However for most people, they throw the club on because the theif will move on to the next car. So if you're a bank or something, yeah, WEP sux. However for most home users (which TFA was about BTW), WEP is MORE than adequate.
Yeah, but I'd really like to see Google fix the existing search problems. I'm starting to have to use other search engines to find stuff because of google-bombers. I really like Google, but finding stuff like product reviews or programming information is real chore with google web search. Groups is a different beast.
A few years ago we had one in Vancouver. I was sitting at my desk and my monitors started to wobble. I thought I was losing my mind! Then, the building started to sway. of course, we went to the windows to watch the other buildings sway. What a bunch of smart guys we were:)
Anyone else notice that for the price, you can get a comparable Dell laptop and only slightly sacrifice screen size? $1699 gets you a decent laptop...
Don't forget about ludicrous speed!

Sounds like a winner IMO.
Don't forget you can code ASP with Rexx too. To say it's only Unix is wrong.
What? I thought there was only an Alpha port for NT... I don't recall a PPC port.

Ooops, my bad...
Just to point out that 10% isn't laughable either...
Your Bus speed is up (even though you're using slow DDR RAM).
Really want your peecee to fly? Add Dual Channel DDR RAM matched to your FSB speed and you'll see a much larger boost too.
Tres cool! Thanks for the info.

Anyone know how the index is stored? I assume it's stored locally?
So does the index return the results to google, so google can render it to you?
Call me skeptical, but if there's sensitive information, how much does google see?

I work for tech support for one of the mentioned companies..
So how's the weather in India then?
It isn't a bad thing that Joe Average doesn't use WEP because I can find free access points all over the city because of it.
See that's the first problem. You cut the engine when that happens. Would have been much safer.
Oh, and you don't need power steering when the vehicle's in motion. And your braking power doesn't suffer that much if you cut the power.
However some people react to stuff better than others.
