Maybe they're using GPT instead, which makes Windows barf if you try to format it using standard methods. You have to format those from the command line because Microsoft is apparently retarded.
Do you see "hacking" in there? He was convicted of computer fraud as he accessed an account that was not his. He also got busted for obstruction of justice by panicking and wiping his drive, which is what landed him the real jail time.
Not really. It's disturbing just how many idiots still use it. For instance, the Yahoo! Answers (that site has the lowest collective IQ of any popular page on the internet, even beating Youtube commenters) computer section has been filled with people asking what to do now that Limewire was shut down. Hey guys, maybe that's why you keep asking about how to get rid of viruses, too, because the crap that comes up on Limewire is lousy with them.
Apple is simply the distributor. They are NOT the developer. Unless you're talking about some provision in the GPLv2 that requires the distributor to release source code when they aren't even the ones who wrote the software, I'd say you're full of shit.
The thing is, I'm a bit torn on this. On one hand, where can you draw the line? This guy was an utter and complete asshole, ripping on grieving families for no other reason than to delight in their torment. Your example is utterly flawed as this isn't just about being a dick online. It's about finding ways to be the biggest dick possible to people that you know are already in emotional turmoil for no other reason than to inflict further pain. I don't think he should be locked up for it, but I think the families should have been able to sue the living daylights out of this worthless little/b/tard.
Except that Zynga deliberately rips everyone else off for almost every game they've made, then kills off the original because they have more marketing clout. It's a wonder they haven't been sued yet. Farmville is darn near identical to Farm Town.
And yes, it is idiots who play these games. When we've talked about how to get girls gaming, we didn't mean stupid, useless little webgames designed to get you to pay them for virtual property.
The side effect is that Apple just fucked themselves even further out of enterprise and large business. Do you know how much enterprise software is written in Java? A lot.
Except not everyone wants to make apps that fit Apple's baloney criteria for inclusion in the App Store. Since that means you won't sell as many (as a bunch of users don't know anything outside the app store), they might just give up and stick with Windows.
This has nothing to do with the app store, and yes, Jobs HAS said that Oracle will make the JVM for future versions of OS X. Jobs would be insane to just drop Java without making arrangements for further support.
Flash is still available and people will still install it. Apple is passing the ball to Oracle to make the JVM for OS X. Both will still be widely available and widely used on OS X.
The problem is the Launchpad. I'm an OS X user, but I can readily admit that most Mac users are Yahoo Answers-grade stupid when it comes to computers. To them, there will be the app store, the launchpad, and that's all they'll need because nothing else is nearly as simple. Jobs doesn't need to lock it down. He knows that he can't but this is probably the closest he can come to it. It may as well be locked down for most Mac users. The more advanced ones will install apps from whatever source they want. The thing is, this just SEVERELY gimped developers who don't make apps that will fit Apple's ludicrous standards, and I think they know it.
Good work, Steve. Your endless desire for control has likely just cost the Mac a lot of developers. Oh, it may not be immediate, but it'll happen. Goddammit.
You completely missed the point. I wasn't claiming that people who buy the Macbook Air want to run intensive stuff. I said that there are those who want more oomph than the Atom provides (which is diddly), but still want an ultraslim notebook. I didn't say that Apple was the first to do this. High resolution is fine on a small screen up to a certain extent. I really don't see 720p or so resolution on an 11.6" screen surpassing that.
Getting it up there is one thing, but factor in the additional cost of getting that data back to earth, and then realize that it is completely impossible to maintain the damned thing if something goes wrong in the hardware.
The micronation idea was better (and probably cheaper) than this. What happens if there's a critical failure on that torrent server? They now have a very expensive hunk of metal orbiting earth since no one is going to be able to go up there and swap out a drive. Then there's the exorbitant cost of getting it up there and getting the data back to earth...this idea is flat-out fail.
I guarantee you that we haven't seen close to everything in Lion yet. There will be much more later, often those nifty under-the-hood bits. This was to show off to the public. I'm more interested in what they're telling developers.

I lost it at "Vladimir Putin, Sultan of Love".

Wrong. Flash 10.1 on OS X now has hardware decoding on a number of video cards. I believe the 9400M, 9600GT, 320M, and 330M are supported.
Tinfoil hats don't work, you know. You need a copper faraday cage hat.

I think this is more of an issue with iOS devices, not the Mac App Store.
Everyone on 4chan will be screwed.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
/b/tard.

WoW generally requires some skill and practice. Farmville doesn't.

I was speaking in a future tense (as in a couple years from now), something I thought was pretty obvious from the wording.
The developer's baloney criteria? Have you SEEN Apple's restrictions? What if the developer writes an app in Java?

Not surprising that it's an AC posting laughable horseshit like this.

Hahahahahahahaha!!! You're kidding, right? That C2D in the Air may not be much, but it will destroy any Atom out there without breaking a sweat.

Did you see how thin this thing is? The flash is soldered on more to save every bit of space possible.
