If the basic principle of Mechanical Television and this new technology using lasers and mirrors instead of a circular plane with holes or a 'screw' mirror for Mechanical Television is combined, we may well see compact, bright and large-screen rear-projection or straight lensed projection screens.

It sounds like they've just borrowed the funamental idea from an invention with basis closer-to the 19th century than the 21st century slapped it with a nice laser and added modern IC's, Brilliant!.

Id say that a mirror rotates at /extremely/ high speed creating a scanning-line capable of scanning a large area in short enough time for a usable frame-rate and they oscillate the Laser via a light-blocking-transistor.

A great and reliable idea, cheapest means to get a scanline too!!

Which I just thought of something in relation to small and low altitude aicraft, these things will make /EXCELLENT/ pocket heaters or actually, good portable clothing heaters to warm your entire body or cabin, individual of each person!

Instead of using electricity in a radiating and quite possibly dangerous way (only if high voltage, if low voltage then it could be dangerous by actually melting conductors on conduction ) why not use the hot exhaust air, surely a safer and least efficient-electricity-wise micro-engine would suffice for a portable clothing heating system =)

Don't any of you dare patent it! I got the idea first!, in BTTF-III!

Not to mention the size of the heatsink and heatpipes on your PDA... =)

Maybe they'll/could place an accessory exhaust port/hose near your chair that places it outside of the airplane. Though I would imagine there would be problems with sabotage and garbage...

You could easily fix the decompression problem by coupling all of the exhausts together into one pipe and then placing a springed valve on the main exhaust as it goes through the rest of the cabins and out the back..

Residue and oxygen depletion would increase dramatically aswell, Though you could also lay down an independant intake network, however all of this would make depressurisation irrelevant so this simple solution could only be possible in light and fairly low altitude bearing aircraft.

Personally, passengers are getting far too individual on airplanes, its not like the electricity you receive on an airplane is as polluted as your disease/tobacco smoke laden AIR!

Nay, it's only fairly polluted, could also have a fair bit of ripple left if it's a DC port too from degraded electrolytes in the airplanes Alternator -> filtered/conversion and regulation device(s).

    Cheers!
