Halo 2 will be DirectX10 only. This is a simple ploy to help get gamers to upgrade, although I imagine most people will just play it on the 360 instead.
This better filter out the UV-rays, otherwise I forsee worker lawsuits. This could be the next big class action if workers start coming down with skin cancer. Why not just use solar panels and convert it to electricity? It seems it would be cheaper than installing the fiber optic wiring.
Wouldn't this just make it easier to pirate movies?
How could it get any easier than it is? I would be willing to pay a couple of bucks for better quality.
Carmack could have been working for NASA or the US military, but instead he simply sits around coding violent computer games.
Yes, he could work for the government, but instead he chose what he was interested in doing. I doubt he regets his decision while he is driving his ferrari to a company that he partially owns.
There will be zero correlation between the "handedness" and skill. It is all about practice, practice, practice. I am right handed and if I wanted to could use the numeric pad, it would be a matter of sliding my keyboard 10 inches to the left. Besides the letter keys aren't lined up perfectly because it is more ergonomic, which is needed for playing hour after hour to guess what? practice practice practice.
It always depends on the company. If its a big corporation that has an IT department as a small part of a bigger picture, then there is generally a stricter dress code. I now work at an insurance company that is business casual. My previous job was also at a conservative insurance company that is suit and tie dress code, which ultimately made me look for a new job.
e can be calculated using pi, which is probably why pi was located throughout the code.
e^(i*pi) + 1 = 0
more than likely it was running this equation:
sum n from 1 to infinity (1/n^2 * cos(9/(n*pi + sqrt(n^2*pi^2 - 9)))) = - pi^2/(12*e^3) = -0.040948222...
If the program contained the value of pi in it, I think it should scream to you that the program doens't calculate pi.
that would have to exist to provide this service. The server would be ultra-expensive to provide the same sort of service that the desktop does to hundreds of people. Plus they would have to make sure that it never goes down, can't get hacked, etc... Essentially this would introduce an enormous upfront cost that didn't exist before, into a system that will probably have addressed the problems by that time. This will never happen, its just simple economics.
Offer Asteroid insurance, if it doesn't hit then its pure profit, if it does hit then life as we know it is over and we are either dead or money is meaningless! This greatly increases your upside, but your downside remains the same.
It is all about economics! If those oil plants made oil cheaper then pumping it out of the ground, then they would be everywhere by now. The fact is that until you can say to someone "this will save you money" then your idea generally won't take off quickly.
I would think that they can and have modeled the conditions with their computers. Now that they have modeled the conditions they want to prove that they were correct in the real world. This is all about proof of concept.
I think many people neglect to realize that the computer components were designed to operate in a closed box and to have very little direct contact with people. There is plenty of lead and other nasties in these components that I certainly wouldn't want to handle them frequently or for that matter my kids. Now things like keyboard key are obviously safe, but motherboards are another thing.
