A poor analogy. I would expect that most people would prefer to play Quake 3 than to watch others play it. While there is the thrill in watching others who are very talented play, it is much more fun IMHO to play a game of Quake 3 than to watch someone else play.
I would definitely have to agree that Solitaire / Minesweeper / Free Cell have to be the most addictive games. For the sole reason that they addict non-gamers. I have seen a large number of people who would not classify themselves as gamers get addicted to the above games.
Even my grandma, who had not touched a computer in her life up until two weeks ago finds Solitaire addictive. My guess is there is a comibination of the addictiveness of the game and the fact that they can feel like mastering a computer.
Hmm....same logic could be applied to anything that is outlawed.
Don't think theft is right? Don't steal!

The question comes down to whether you are infringing on the unborn child's rights? I would say you are. If you want to argue that abortion is acceptable, please argue that you are not infringing on this beings rights, not that it should be a matter of choice to do so.
If the strategy of the Transmeta chips is to emulate other CPUs, its kind of ironic that they will be using "5 year off technology" to emulate present CPUs?
Thats like using a Pentium III as basically a really fast 386.....er....um.....nevermind;-)
The majority of what takes up that 12 gig HD isn't code though. Although some programs are massive, the majority of anything (even Windows and Office) are media. Unless we can find some way to massively compress video/audio data, as long as programmers keep adding nice interface features, programs are going to get bigger. I don't think most code out there is as tight as it could be, but I don't think the solution to booming space requirements is tigheter coding.
EPGY is a way for gifted students in elementary through high school to take advanced classes when they aren't offered by local schools. They have math, physics, english, and apparently have added computer science since I took classes. They distribute lectures on CD-ROM, and all correspondence with the professor is via e-mail. They were also in the process of setting up some sort of chat room interface a year or two ago, don't know if that ever happened.

I can't get into the page (slashdotted?), but does this have entries in only English, or is there a mechanism for making it multi-lingual?
Not first person shooters, but the quest for high FPS.
I know more people addicted to their frame rate count than to the game itself.
"I'm gonna add just *one* more piece of hardware, I promise"

and it is now well over 10,000......
Slashdot - the ultimate advertisement.
but, the server seems to be withstanding this quite nicely.

Geocities pages will become a lot less annoying very quickly.
