I don'tknow if things work the same way in the US as in the UK, but do you count all the spoiled ballot papers over there.
In the UK when they read the results for say Winchester North, the results go as follows:
Labour 2,334 Conservative 15,689 liberal Democrats 234 Monster reving Loony party (this is a real party) 123,456,789 Spolied 123
Turn out 43%
I always say to people here that if you don't like your choice of candidates then go and vote. Spoil your ballot. If everyone did this then the dam politcians couldn't complain about voter apathy. We would sent a clear message. We do listen, we do care, we just don't like you
You can't get EU citizenship. There is NO EU to be a citizen of.
Its like saying you want to become a citizen of NAFTA.
You could become a citizen of the UK, France etc. though. I like the Poles, go to Poland.

This is how Easy.com price their offerings in the UK.
We have EasyJet, a short haul airline, EasyRentACar, er, well..., and EasyCinema, ok this is getting too easy.
Price is reflected byu the popularity of each service. If you want to go to the Cinema on a wednesday at 10am then tickets are less than 1 ($1.2ish)
It seems fair for me to say so.
I have spen a bomb on OSX so far. I stayed with Apple throughout the misery of the past.
I bought.0,.1,.2,.3 but I won't buy.4. I won't because I want them to get off this yearly update cycle.
I am but one person, I can't stop Apple but I can influence through my buying habbits
I can understand why Apple wanted to move forward quickly from the 10 to 10.1 and then to 10.2. These were all big leaps forward to add simple features back in that were missing.
But I can't see why we needed the jump from Jaguar to Panther a year later. 150 new features my arse. Expose, File vault and er er er......
I can see NO reason to pay another 79 only a year after Panther. Ask for more, when you have a big update.
The user base of Spymac was around 40,000 before they they introduced the 1GB of email storage.
The current membership is around 234651.
They are first and foremost a Apple Rumor site, hence the name SpyMac.
When a HUGE number of new members without any interest in Mccs signed up the older membership were up in arms. To try and stop the core members leaving all the resources have been pumped into keeping the site live (but nothing can withstand/.) and to keep the core serveices going. It seems priority is being given to older members for all non core services email, websites, blogs etc.

Your point was well made until the last line. It is true that everyone isn't just a Linux Zelot, but as Linux becomes more mainstream the 'its free what do you expect' statement will have to become redundant.
I guess its no good to the Linux geeks (maybe it is who knows what you guys can crack) but Elgato have produced a firewire TV card/Tivo(ish) box for the Mac. http://www.elgato.com/products/index.html

I'm sorry. After re-reading my post I can see I wasn't clear.
I understand that their is a PPC version of many of the largest distros.
The problem I have run into is there is no easy way to install Linux (the term covering all varients)
I have a standard iBook that is a few yers old. This sems to me to be the perfect machine, not too old, not too young.
The day that I can buy a CD and jst install will be the day that Linux will explode. Once I have found my way around the default I can then make the next step.
Yea but can I get it to turn on????
I use Apple and want to try Linux. I bought (hear that b-o-u-g-h-t) Gentoo, Debian and Mandrake (I want to pay my way).
I know I don't know much (if anything) about computers or Linux. But if 1 in 100 people feel as I do i.e. they believe that open source is the future, but can't get the dam thing to turn on, then look at the massive potential Linux is missing.
I think there needs to be a VERY simple Very basic version of Linux to get us super-newbies started. I think it is just like learning to code. If the first thing yu needed to code was a million lines then you would never get going. You start with two lines then ten then a thousand.
Sorry for the rant I am just desparate to try Linux (any distro) on an ibook 500

America, or at least American companies want the whole world to buy their products. This in turn gave you the jobs you have today.
In the UK we had HUGE strikes in the 80's as the luddites said that closing the pits and steel works would kill the country. After a short period of unrest we found new jobs and the economy is more powerful than before (with lower unemployment)
As all the net profit from that product will reside with the company I would say yes it is an American product by an American company.
The profit will be taxed by the US government, as will the income from the CEO and everyone else involved, from the accountants to the guy who makes the coffee.
The rest of the profits will indirectly go to shareholders through dividends and capital growth (i.e. you through your pension). This in turn is also taxed.
The money that the Government doesn't take is spent on good and services. These are produced at least in part by US employees.
The Government then spends this tax revenue (at least some of it) on projects such as NASA and the military where the technologies of the future are developed and sold to the poor mugs around the world.
Does this mean that the rest of the world should stop buying US products?
Afterall if we buy something from the US, that means that we're not maing it ourselves and in the process someone in the UK who could have made that product is out of a job.
I'm a Mac user, I know squat about developing/codeing, I don't like Microsoft
I NEED Open Office
If any of you can help develop the native port of OOo to Mac PLease Please Please Help

Just now Radio 4 is airing a version of Terry Pratchets 'Mort'. This is available, so I guess H2G2 will be also

Further,
I think many 'geeks' are confused.
You all talk about how important customisation is. Don't you see that the one thing you lack is a base to work from.
We mere mortals can't get on the Linux ladder until we can get hold of the bottom rung
