Yes, an authoritative central DNS is counter to the basic premise of the Internet. But, if a centralized naming source does not exist, in order to defend Trademarks, companies would need to spend more money finding all DNS names on all DNS registries to prove in court they were defending their trademark. Far cheaper to use political contributions and power to ensure only a single controllable Domain Name Service exists.

Thus we see the effect of the increasing implementation of business needs over community needs on the Internet.

Did Anonymous get a permit to protest the web site using a DDOS? Usually, police cannot break up a protest if the group has filed for a permit and does not protest on the actual property of the business. Was the DDOS on the actual property/webserver of the company; or was the DDOS on Internet public right of ways [assuming such a definition can be determined]. Where can I apply for a permit to protest a website such that all visitors must see my protest web content first?

Although the whole concept of getting a permit to protest is bizarre....

For you this may be a waste. But the average person has no clue as to the extent and importance of net neutrality. The more discussion about this subject and the higher the profile of this subject, we might actually begin to get some real discussion on net neutrality. Currently, the discussion centers around which version of targeted net neutrality will be implemented to benefit a special group instead of society as a whole.

I appreciate the extensive reply on all the time consuming and detailed work you perform to fill a position. Such work is tedious and exhausting; but not the hard work I intentionally did not specify. The hardest work is not that which consumes the most significant portion of time and apparent effort. Comprehension of an applicants possibilities is the hardest task for the hiring manager. Most don't make the effort.

From my experience as both applicant and hiring manager, those who quick-sort applicants based on degrees regardless of an applicants' experience show a propensity to laziness in all aspects of their profession. Your post gave me the impression you were a quick-sort type.

Somehow local politics always attracts those who have no authority or responsibility elsewhere; and they use local politics as an attempt to "be somebody". Complex concepts with effective checks and balances could not be implemented because those most drawn to local politics could not handle the complex human structures elsewhere. So they create their own simple cesspool in their village.

Buy some computer software/hardware/other gadget, get an Android app at 50% off or free depending on price/volume. How many obsessive compulsives do you know who would buy a home weather station if it could constantly report the conditions to their smartphone? Or cat monitor, or fridge status, etc etc.

Even if all these types of software already exist thru individual purchases or smart purchasing, don't underestimate the selling power of bundling for lazy/unsmart people.
