I know this is news, and actually relevant to/. (for once), but I find it hard to care. Sure the specification is out, but it will take a long time I suspect to find its way into computers (since the existing version is so entrenched), and even longer for cards to be made that take full advantage of it. Is there something I am missing that will make this new standard magically find its way into computers in the next few months? Do I have to turn in my geek card now?
How about only allowing people to patent inventions that have cost money (resources) to bring into the world (i.e. prototypes, experiments, ect), and not inventions that anyone can "discover" simply by sitting down and thinking hard. (algorithems, formulas, ect)?
1. Write post in wordprocessor
2. Login and post.
3. Repeat step 2 two more times
What's so hard about that? It seems like you spend more time worrying about whether one thing is playing nice with the others then you would simply logging in twice. And why not simply make your WP background white?
Why would they want to avoid radar? Our aircraft can be designed to avoid radar to some extent, but it makes sense not to on most planes (in order to aid traffic control, ect).
"our enemies"? I find it hard to consider a corporate entity my enemy (or a friend). They aren't people, so it doesn't make perfect sense to relate to them in this way. Certainly I can relate to the members of the company, but those members are constantly changing. And if some of those members do things I disagree with it doesn't mean that everyone in that company is reprehensible, or out to get me.
What if someone posts links on a forum (or other site that allows user comments). Would the site owners be responsbile? This could be a great (awful) way to blackmail people.
He is probably just using an SPR (statistical prediction rule), so his program is probably 1 line long, and the real work went into mining the data to determine what the rule should be.
Yes, in america he majority of people are never mislead by falsehoods. Consider for example the Iraq war. It is definitely not the case that the majority of people were mislead into supporting the war by purposefully misleading information about Saddam's WMDs and ties to terrorists. Something like that could never happen here. Was that not down to your cultural core enough? How about the american dream and social mobility?
Realizing that I am a good deal older than the internet, and that a fair percentage of the readers of this article probably aren't, make me feel old. Get off my lawn.com you damned kids!

37.62% according to my calculations. But I haven't taken quantum effects into account yet, so I may be slightly off.

Would someone please tell me how server virtualization or graphics processing engines are disruptive. (Innovative, yes, but disruptive?)

One network to rule them all, One network to find them,
One network to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
My Eyes! The goggles, they do nothing!
Anyone else think that site was just a tad bit spastic?
remember: time zones
Perhaps because it has been turned into a money making machine?
Should be:
In capitalist West the government listens to rich telcos.
In the Soviet Union the rich telcos listen to the government!
some days I really do wonder who is in charge

Plus you know those 9-11 terrorists. Totally motivated by atheism. *snort*
Just because I joined late doesn't make me young, it makes me not a true geek.

You can major in sadistics? That sounds awesome. Off to start a petition to get that major here.
Where is the "itsatrap" tag when you need it?
Three cheers for philosophy. Perhaps I am a little biased?
