I wouldn't be too sure about that. It's certainly true that people may jump to conclusions sometimes to justify their loss, but there ARE countries that are well known for certain trades, like the swiss make good watches, the french make excellent wine, germans design some of the finest cars around, japan is home to some wonderful electronics, etc. While it can't be true for every single citizen, you can't tell me that those reputations aren't well deserved.
Get your hands on an external hard drive kit and 1 or 2 drives with enough space to make your backup. Money shouldn't be much of an issue since you're already spending a bunch on the OS, plus you've got two macs sitting around.
It seems like too simple a question to be asking slasdot. Seems almost like a plug to me.
...is that it's a DIAMOND. Not some imitation like quartz or whatever else they make them out of. A diamond ring NEEDS to have a diamond or else it loses all meaning.
The article mentions rumours that both the xbox2 and the N5 will IBM cpus and ATI vpus. It could be very interesting to see what happens when Nintendo and Microsoft's opposite business philosophies battle it out for our consumer dollar with such similar hardware.
If Microsoft is using the G5 mainly for it's 64 bit capabilities, then this could be a great opportunity for AMD to jump in, undersell Apple, and gain some good solid ground for their Opterons. That would certainly lead to more AMD optimizations in other MS apps, and probably help them get a bigger peice of the grey box market too.
If you looked at some of the numbers from the article, they state also their best and worst case scenarios, with a range between 2.2 billion and 134 trillion. I dunno about the rest of you, but that doesn't seem to me to be any sort of reliable basis for such a prediction. You may as well play darts blindfolded if you put any kind of faith in these numbers.
"Also, I've seen situations where small developers basically extort money out of a publisher by delaying their milestones once a project gets late in the dev cycle."
Yeah, cause you know the larger companies don't resort to dishonest practices as often:) I would imagine that word gets around between publishers about which developers are worth spending money on and which ones are pushing inferior products out of extended development cycles. The dev groups that are in it for the money instead of the games are only going to bring themselves down in the end.
I'll tell you why there's so few original ideas anymore, it's because the people who are making video games grew up playing video games. What we've got here is a pool of talent that's feeding off itself, in other words, the video game industry (just like hollywood and the music industry) is being inbred to death. That's not to say there isn't some really inspired stuff out there, but there's so much that's just an amalgam of features the developers liked in another game(s) and decided they could mix-and-match them into another great game (or movie, or album)
S3 can't make a decent gaming chip?

Windows MCE is no different at all from XP except for that ONE program it adds, namely the media center. There's no way you can make me beleive that there's some technicaly impossible reason they can't make any media play on the xbox.
And what if I decide I would like to upgrade to MCE to use the extended features of the xbox kit? Well, let's see what my options are: I could buy a new computer with MCE bundled with it, but since I've already got 2 computers that seems a little silly. I could install MCE on one of my existing computers, but microsoft doesn't sell just the MCE by itself. They say that it requires special hardware to function, but it's not like any 10 year old couldn't figure out what extra hardware he needed, assuming he would even WANT to use the features that require it. You can try to tell them that you understand the limits of not having the hardware, ie the remote, card reader, and tv tuner, but they still won't sell it to you. They won't sell you the hardware needed to make it compliant with MCE either, I assume because they think I couldn't handle the installation or maybe some other corporate gibberish, even though other companies sell things like a cd burner with nero included without an entire computer attached.
Hey, if you want a quiet but powerful cpu solution for your media pc, I'm using one of the zalman cnps6000 units on an underclocked athlon xp. The heatsink is so efficient that you don't even need a fan so long as you have reasonable airflow in the case (I'm using one fan that runs at 21 dB), and underclocking it might sound a bit silly but it keeps it very cool and besides, you just don't need a 2100+ to play movies and music and such. It's clocked as a 1500+, and if the bios would let me lower it further I'd do it just so I could get rid of that noisy 21 dB fan:)
I think the whole war on drugs would be a lot simpler if they would just simply let darwinism take it's course, ie if you're not responsible enough to control your habits and you end up dead in a ditch somewhere with a mind full of chemicals like some cheese eating high school boy, that's evolution baby. That's survival of the fittest. That's less money going to law enforcement to pay for chasing these people down who aren't going to learn their lesson from cops anyway. Just give up the "war" on drugs and the abusers will take care of themselves for you.
Actually, I bought the Pearl Jam: Live At The Garden DVD and while disc 1 works fine, disc 2 won't give me any audio at all when I play it from my computer. It works fine when I play it with another dvd player, and I can even rip the disc and watch it ala Xvid (which I did), but for some reason the computer just won't play the audio tracks on disc 2. I know I'm perfectly able to exchange it for another copy at the store, but I'm significantly less motivated to do so when I can just watch the rip without any extra fuss.

...Bob Vila's or Martha Stewart?
But can they run linux?

Didn't blaster only affect windows XP systems?
Quick, somebody stop them!

For the world population projections I meant. whoops.

...are the most warezed.
You have your front, left and right speakers as usual, and 4 surround speakers in a semi-circle behind you.
From the article: "The idea behind returning to the moon, after an absence of nearly 50 years..."
Didn't we last land on the moon in 1972?

OK, maybe not "grew up", maybe "matured" is a better word. The point is, game developers are game players.
