Actually the law was written such that it could be applied to the Jewish Yamaka and the Christian Cross. It wasn't a ban on headscarves only but somewhere along the lines of "outgoing religious items"
People in the US have not like the French for decades. I think it partly has to do with how much we butcher the French language when we speek it and partly due to the number of jokes we have about the French when it comes to war. Most of the war jokes are due to the French getting over-run repeatedly by the Prussians/Germans. It has nothing to do with France not supporting the war in Iraq/Afganistan.
"Sure I live in another country so don't know your full story there but seriously, what about public transport or even (god forbid) walking or cycling?"
Ummm.... I don't know where you live, but I'm going to assume it's in a relatively built up area. A lot of people in the U.S. live in places where it's 5 miles at the least to the closest grocery store. And that is not even in the country side. I live in suburbia, the closest grocery store/gas station is two miles down the road. Those were recently put in. When we moved here the closest ones were at least 10 miles away (20 years ago). There are other places of the country where you have to go 20 miles to the closest town. Walk to the store? The food would spoil before you got back. And you can't bike easily in some areas of this country due to some things called hills and mountains. Hell, there are people that have to fly (literaly the family vehicle is a plane) to get into town. The energy efficient cars start at $20,000. That is a sizeable chunk of most peoples paychecks (start with 80% and work your way down).
As for public transportation, it won't pay for itself in places outside of the cities. Not enough people in a small enough area. It may work for Cities, but not outside of them. The only reason people in this area take the train system is to avoid the hassle of trying to park. My daily on the city train costs $4.60 each day. I could buy two gallons (8 liters) of gas for that. I'd save more money by driving to work. If I parked at the train station it would be another $3 a day. And this is a government train system.
The closest bus stop to where I live is two miles down the road. I can't bike to work due to work being 20 miles away as the bird flies.
Seeing as how I live in VA, where the hell are they having toll roads like that? About the only idiots I know doing something like that are the private corporation that own tne Dulless toll road that keep uping the price on people who pay cash to encourage them to switch to EasyPass.
Better idea than the simulator. Just build a small miliwatt jammer. Power it off of you cigarete lighter. You'll have way more than enough power to jam the RF dignals from the GPS sats and make it so that it can't tall where you are. Simpler to build too.
Tell me what good mass transit will do in an area where you have 10 miles between bus stops at the least. Better yet, 10 miles between houses. I'm in an area where Urban transit won't work except for certain routes cause there aren't enough people to support it.
I find it interesting that Oregon is essentially using an absentee only balot when the Democrats seem to be so much against absentee voting. Links:

Remember, By law every minor must atend some form of school until he/she reaches the age of 16. So technicaly if they are under 16 and aren't in school thaty are doing a "bad thing" just by not being in school.
No no no, critically challenged was when Germany invaded Poland during WWII with tanks, and Poland sent Cavalry on Horses with Pistols to try to stop them. France, from what I understand, merely didn't have an actual government in power at the time.
I'm glad I've kept my wooden blocks, legos, and some other stuff to this stage in life. Along with the toys my dad gave me when he was a kid (erector set, trains) I'm set for several years for when I have kids. I have 3 large sets of erector sets and lots of O and HO gauge model trains at this point. They are a lot more expensive now, but all I really need is track for the trains, and the erector sets are easier to suplement than replace.
Line out on sound card (or optical out) to Sterio system. All the line out needs is a plug adapter from 3/8" stereo to Dual RCA Mono (Composite?) connectors. Video either from RGB/DVI out to TV or through S-Video/Composite out on the Video card. Of course, usually I just watch whatever it is on my monitor anyways.
What would you count the stocks as? (Although they were for minor offences) Also, we have had whiping and caning as punishment. Something tells me we could really reduce the crime rate if we had something that was physicaly painful like that instead of prison which doesn't seem to cause much pain at all.
As we live in a democratic society I and others should be able to form our own opinions regarding political issues, including the topic of gay marriage. It does not make you a bad person to be against it.
No. Unless in addition to being against it, you take action to prevent it. Then it does make you a bad person
Ah, so If I am against something and take action to stop it I am a bad person? Does that mean that if I try to stop someone from murdering someone else because I am against murder makes me a bad person? Tell you what, insert something else in there isntead of gay mariage. lets try this list: scams, fraud, theft, rape, peadophilia, counterfiting, drunk driving, and so on.
through most of human history somebody who commited a serious crime was either executed or enslaved. There was no third choice.
Actually, the ancient greeks had fines as a punishment. One of Socrates possible punishments that was mentioned in the plays was a fine. Assuming that he plead guilty I think. So there is a third, Fining.
You're forgetting that these guys were also using the spam to sell products that would not do what they claimed they would do. As I undrstand it, they were spamming people to scam them out of money. The nine years isn't just for the spamming, but for selling, as the prosecutor liked to put it, "snake oil".
RTFA. The treaty outlaws Nuclear weapons and WMDs. So long as anything we put up there does not fall under either of those two categories we are still within the treaty. By the way, since the USSR is the only other signatory of that treaty, and they are no longer around, does that mean it is still valid?

15mbps downstream, 2mpbs upstream
Ok, so there are a couple of exceptions. But playing hookie isn't one of them.

Just remember. "Let the wookie win".
Thats the first reasonable explanation I have ever heard for gay mariage. Congrads.
So two wrongs don't make a right. Does that mean we shouldn't punish people at all when the break the law?
You're forgetting that they were convicted of fraud as well. In this case selling a program.
He marketed the refund processor as a product for US$39.95 that would allow you to make as much as $75.00 per hour.
Considering that this program was a fake this is fraud.

2) it is "racist" to purge the rolls of dead voters
Ah, you must be from Illinois. Where many dead people vote. Often more than once in each election.
Rule #2: Do not used signed Ints (sorry man, short in C/C++ only goes up to 127, C# has short that goes to 32k).
Rule #3: Always use 64 or more bit unsigned integers.
