Works for me in GIMP (2.6.8 on Linux with nVidia closed-source drivers). I'm sure I remember it working in earlier versions too, because I've done just this for years.
I haven't used Photoshop, but I have used Paint Shop Pro 7. It has one feature which I miss in GIMP, although I believe it's in the works: layer groups. For example, I could have one straightforward normal-mode layer grouped with a screen layer for a group effect and then apply a layer mask to the group as a whole. To accomplish this without groups requires either combining the layers (which means that tweaking them later is a major pain) or giving them both a mask and then keeping the two masks in sync. I suspect that it would be extremely ugly to add this in Script-Fu, if it is even possible.
1905 was special rel, Brownian motion, and the photoelectric effect. Three papers any one of which was a massive advance: that's why it's referred to as his miracle year.
A game developer who has never heard of John Carmack.
I didn't hear of Carmack until I'd been working in game development for a couple of years - and even then I heard about him in a/. discussion. There's more to games than FPSes. IMO Sid Meier would be a better example in the field of game development.
And of those four road tracks, at least one appears to be primarily an F1 track rather than a NASCAR one. The clue's in the name of Montreal's track: Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Solar had huge government support in Spain too. It's only the dire economic situation the country's in which has put a stop to the government subsidising solar panels on all new commercial construction.
For any database which is used to communicate with you by phone or mail, the name field is expected to correspond to your name. Except, of course, that usually there are multiple fields to handle different parts of your name, and plenty of possibility for someone to stick the wrong parts in the fields.
Maybe the analysis it performs is better than the impression given by the article (yes, I RTFA, apologies), but it seems that it would give all the glory to the strikers and midfielders and undervalue the defenders and keeper, whose job is more about keeping the ball out of their net than getting it to the striker.
There is a major difference between natural languages and programming languages with respect to authority: with programming languages, people tend to aim to follow the spec. Maybe the Germans follow the recommendations of their academy, but the French certainly don't - the Academie Française tends to come up with convoluted expressions for neologisms and the man on the street sticks with the snappy loanword.
On your point about English having multiple centres, the two official languages where I live both have multiple academies. Spanish has 22 Academias, which collaborate for works such as the Diccionario Panhispánico de Dudas but also produce their own works: for example, the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua produces a Diccionario breve de Mexicanismos. Catalan / Valenciano has one academy in Barcelona and another in Valencia.
It gives a nice shorthand for universities to offer conditional places. For example, and simplifying slightly, I had one offer of AAB (as in, get two As and a B to get this place); another of BBB (less prestigious university); etc. I'm not saying this is the reason, but it's a reason why the letter system has value.
Ok, saving network capacity I can buy as a benefit. I'm not sure that latency - the focus of TFS - is a real issue when downloading software updates, though.
How many of the resources hosted by CDNs are things which we're already stopping with various ad blocking techniques, and how many are content we actually care about?
I might have to try again. Upgraded from Karmic about a month ago when KDE broke in Karmic and it was still broken for me in Lucid. I'm currently using Gnome and hating it.

They'll just make them longer.

Book of Common Prayer, p220. This is the traditional Anglican (Episcopal) marriage service.

It's not too hard to get a ham licence.
Racist!
Far more than 29% of /. posts are useless observation. This one included.

They also specify the bounding box, so if the printer can't handle it then it's a design flaw in the printer (or its driver).

If you can boil water you can purify it of most of that junk, so energy is still more of a limiting factor than water.

The latest plugins (1.6.0_17 and later) are supposed to be better in this regard.

Taking the gloves off is a bad idea: you'll end up breaking your fingers. Much more sensible to put on illegal gloves with a horseshoe in them.
If you call people who don't RTFA idiots, what are you doing on /.?

And? Is more than 99% of countries (including the really big ones) not sufficient to qualify as "almost everywhere"?
Sure, but where are SCO going to get the money?
