    May not be the best solution, but it is a step in the right direction maybe.

    Sex offenders here in the States are required to register where they live.
    Some states require that they inform their employer.
    If they do require this registry it may stop one rape.

    The issue I have with it...

    there are multiple people out there in the www that have the same screen name.

    The only way I think this would work is the have the Government assign a screen name and
    not allow anybody to select one.

    Ok you can slap me for that comment, it was a BAD idea.

    Another thing is each government body declares what a sex offender is.
    Some states require registration for having sex in any position other than missionary.
    Some only when violence or a child is involved.

    First thing they need to do is standardize what an offense is.

    There is a registered offender here in my town. His offense, sex with a minor.

    His actual crime, He married a 17 year old girl, he was 17, he turned 18, she was still 17, her dad had him arrested for it. He is now branded for life as a sex offender for screwing his wife.

    The need to fix what they have before they load it with more broken data

    But when the ED commercials come on and my 8 yr old daughter asks what is ED it gets a little frustrating to have to explain what a ED is.

    Incandescent Light bulbs in explosion proof fixtures (CFL's are not rated for that).
    Incandescent Light bulbs in porch spot/flood lights.

    Ohh wait
    All of that is exempt the only ones that matter are the ones in your home.

    what do you bet that if your home is 10,000 sf and up or your a state official you are exempt.

    A client of mine was audited last year, they where "fined" for having a machine sitting in the closet
    that had no power supply, CD Rom, or ram in it but had a HD with Win 98 on it and they where unable to produce the the license paperwork, now their license agreement with M$ is no good as M$ will not allow them to renew it.

    This is good for them, we are putting linux in at the end of the month and scrapping all of the winbloze stuff.

    I loaded it on a twin dual core with 4 gig of ram.
    It booted slower than 2k pro
    It would not allow me to install sybase (vista said it was a virus)
    I could not run Office 2000 on it. I would just crash if it opened at all
    I was unable to load my custom written backup software, it did not have a valid certificate
          ( i wrote the software )

    I unloaded vista and put 2k back on it

    The National ID removes the states rights to govern its own people.
    1. The State no longer declares and controls drivers licenses
    2. The State no longer sees the revenue for the license
    3. The Fed controls who gets a drivers license
    4. The fed knows where you are at all times?
            Sounds like the UK faces/id system
    5. The fed is attempting to do the same thing with animals

    1 - Separate work and private laptops
            I carry mine to work and don't plug it into the network
            I don't use the work machine for any internet searches, I use my laptop through cell card

    2 - Separate your data sets
            Carry your sensitive data on something other than laptop
            I carry mine on a CD, they can't call that a bomb

    3 - If they want to search it...
            Ask "What exactly are you looking for?" and write down the answer!
            If they say its just a routine inspection let them look, don't let them open files
            If they want to see a file ask for the warrant
            If they insist ask (don't) demand to see a supervisor

    4 - Be nice, calm, and ask the supervisor to witness
            Any search (with understanding you are under protest) as there is no warrant.
            Ask the supervisor for a full accounting of all files opened/accessed prior to boot/power on
                    (this is critical as they cant log all files accessed during boot)

    5 - Best of all, don't give them a reason to search it

    The US has no way to tax the proceeds of the gambler or the site.
    The US government does not want anybody to make money here in the US
    and not pay taxes on that money.

    So how do you get the tax revenue?
    You can't, so what do you do?
    You make it against the law and use "Morals" to justify your actions.

    Everyone seems to forget that our country was founded by crooks, outlaws, and the religious right.

    So when you ask why are we against gambling, we are not, as long as we can tax the crap out of it
    and the government can get their share of the profit.

    You can replace every light in your home with them, just be ready to replace the fixture or fixture head. If they are on a dimmer, replace the dimmer with a switch.

    Timers are no problem, I have 4 10 watt CFL's in my Barn on a timer, they turn on for 6 hours then turn off.

    1 - wait till they burn out then replace them
    2 - put them in a box and save them for when you need a bulb in your drop light
    3 - put them in a bag and smash them...
    4 - give them to your neighbor and tell them you don't need them any more
            and then explain to them why, makes them feel bad and they get to change theirs

    Sounds like one of two things.

    Loose / Bad ground on the main service panel
          Get it fixed asap

    Or

    The "Hot" and "Neutral" are reversed in the fixtures

    If you are willing to "Play with electricity" you can check this out by going to the local hardware store and ask them to show you how to test it.

    There are polarity testers for testing the hot/neutral, most will also show a bad ground or a loose neutral.

    I have had the CFL's in my place for 2 years and they all light up bright

    True,
    The local ace hardware where I live will accept them for recycling and give you 20% the ones you by from them at the same time.

    They then give them back to GE, who does who knows what with them.

    The only RFI I have ever noticed from them is when they start going bad then they flicker just like a 4 foot tube. other than that I would go get a three pack and put them on the front porch, rear porch, and in a lamp in the living room. See what happens. Just get ready for the flip the switch and wait 1 second for the room to light up. there is a slight delay as they start. that may be the only time they generate RFI
