If the ruling were upheld on appeal, it would have sweeping implications. It could potentially force Hollywood studios to stop bundling digital download codes with physical DVDs and force video game companies to rethink their own practices
IANAL, but I don't see how this will "force" Hollywood to stop giving people digital download codes with discs. They already sell combo packs of Bluray + DVD, or 4K Blu-ray + 1080p Blu-ray, and sometimes all three, and people can always resell one or the other discs separate of the package. The code is just another portion of the package in this case, and the consumer will be free to sell it now (as they already are doing -- not just Redbox).
The 1988 Civic was a whopping 8 inches shorter in wheelbase than the 2018 Civic. So, very little fundamental difference between 30 years, despite the pedantry.
Wheelbase? Talk about cherry-picking your stats. The car's length jumped a foot and half, its width almost half a foot, and let's not even talk about the weight.
OEM Windows keys won't activate a Retail copy of Windows. It'd actually be a hell of a lot easier for him to just use the manufacturer's installer.
Sounds like this particular computer didn't come with restore media -- it had one of those extra hard drive partitions you were supposed to restore from in the event of a Windows issue.
"The computer was upgraded to Windows Version 10 and became non-functional immediately. The upgrade deleted the cached, or backup, version of Windows 7."
Fat lot of good that does the consumer if the hard drive itself fails.
The main search is ok, but the video search is the best porn congregator there is. Searches everything, hover to preview the video, etc. Microsoft nailed it.
And a 2018 Honda Civic has many more bells and whistles than one made in 1988 - but it's still a midsized ICE car. Whoop de do.
A Civic is not a mid-size car. The 1988 Civic was actually in the Subcompact class, and it has only reached the Compact class as of 2000.
The current (10th generation) is large enough I would argue it probably should be considered mid-size, because it's very close to the dimensions of the mid-size 5th generation Honda Accord.
I disagree with that. Being able navigate your hard drive and install programs is more important than being able to code, and should come first.
I was going to post the same thing. Computer stills are like building a pyramid: you need to have a solid foundation before you start building the layer above. I work in support, and what really grinds my gears is people with advanced issues with specific websites, printing, or VPN connections who, when you try to give instructions to, are revealed to not know how to copy and paste text, or even manipulate interface elements by mouse dragging.
People who haven't mastered the skills of one of those free community "How to use a PC" classes shouldn't be on the Internet, IMNSHO. With social media and phishing, those people could ruin their marriage, financials, or even put their own lives in danger following medical advice from some quack website.
The case centers on "restore discs," which can be used only on computers that already have the licensed Windows software and can be downloaded free from the computer's manufacturer, in this case Dell.
Where is this link where you can download the Windows restore installation disc for a Dell PC? Seriously, I have to look at my uncle's Dell PC this weekend and he does not have the restore discs for it. The sticker with the product key is on the machine. I've tried to reinstall the DVD codec drivers for it in the past and could find no place on Dell's site I could download the installer at all.
FFS, it's already on your hard drive somewhere. I don't know of too many browsers that just store images in ram. Or is that why Chrome is such a damn memory hog....
Coming soon: Encrypted browser cache! Only the browser executable has the ability to read the files it creates on the hard drive.
YouTube TV is also bringing NBA TV and MLB Network to the base lineup. NBA All Access and MLB.TV will be offered as optional paid add-ons "in the coming months." The downside? The price of the service is going up.
Did Google miss that the reason lots of cord cutters "cut the cord" was because they were sick of paying for sports networks they had no interest in?
Just use Windows. Choice sucks for the average user. Preinstalled is the way to go. People have no idea there is a difference between hardware and software and that you can choose to install your OS. Microsoft understood this. Why can't Linux world understand that?
You realize there are companies that make computers with Linux pre-installed, right? Dell is one of them.
Dude, why are you replying to me to argue about iOS adoption? I'm pointing out the link in the summary is to the wrong story and has nothing to do with the topic.
To use one man's words, regarding my post: You're reading it wrong.
According to Google's Platform Versions page, Android 8.0 Oreo mobile operating system finally has 1.1 percent adoption. Like Android Nougat before it, Android Oreo took five months to pass the 1 percent adoption mark.
Removing support for old stuff at the right time is part of the software flow. Supporting the everything-on-everything model means less resources (both development and testing) for other stuff. Surely there's a "too soon" for deprecation" but also a "too late". One decade sounds pretty dang reasonable.
Isn't the software supposed to be to fulfill a specific purpose for the customer. We're talking about a business application suite, with a user base that a large portion of which are still using Windows 7 for various reasons, and Windows 7 is still under support until 2020.
What are the differences between standalone Office and online subscription that necessitate this higher Windows version? This smells of nothing more than Microsoft trying to punish businesses for not moving to Windows 10.
Why don't you just buy a phone that is compatible with T-Mobile from somewhere else? We don't have to ask to "pretty-please activate my new device" like some carriers.
I bought a Sony direct and unlocked and I get 5 days of battery life between charges. The only reason I had to visit a T-Mobile after I got it is because my SIM was too large for the new phone so I couldn't just put it in. They gave me a new (nano) SIM for free.
Not sure how much "bare metal" exposure you need for the developing you're doing, but you could set up your machine in Linux and then run Windows full screen in a VM. Only use it for work stuff and keep you personal stuff outside it. If there was a bad update that comes down the pipe and the VM gets hosed you could roll back to an earlier snapshot of the VM in a snap, too.
Offices and stores don't shut down because fewer people are in them.
An office or business with limited foot traffic may reduce their hours so they aren't paying for staffing when people aren't coming in often enough.
There aren't fewer office buildings or stores...
There most certainly will be "fewer office buildings and stores" when businesses are closing from lack of customers (who are doing their business online while they are staying closed up at home).
...and they don't use less power on HVAC and lights because someone isn't there.
Yeah, that's why when I'm driving around at 4am in the commercial district all the businesses have their road signs on and interiors fully lit....Oh wait. No, they don't. And I'm sure the have their thermostats adjusted for hours when they are not open, too.

Still shows up as the top downloaded BitTorrent client on CNET and Softpedia
I thought people stopped using CNET once it started bundling adware?

...24 hours before a plugin comes up to get the functionality back.
There's a web browser that still allows you to expand its functionality in a meaningful way?
Did you miss the part where they're optional paid add-ons?
Why don't you read what I quoted again, and the channels listed very carefully.
You need to re-read the first sentence of my quote, bro.

The speaker has to sit directly on the surface to get good base response.
It think the chemical response from the wood to the base is exactly the problem here.

Linked as it appears in TFS.
So you enjoy watching people kill themselves for your entertainment?
I knew it was more than a coincidence that modern football stadiums have such a likeness to the Colosseum.
Have you tried reading the summary? It has interesting information.
