I think the fact that valve sells games at MSRP has to do with the fact that they don't want to price compete with the retailers.... they do still want to sell their valve games in the big box stores.
And occasionally they do have really good sales... where else could I have got Bioshock for 5 bucks?
I'm a software engineer in Columbus, OH and I'm posting this on my lunch break. There are plenty of tech jobs out there, you just have to know where to look. I wholeheartedly agree with this. Columbus and Ohio in general are short on true "tech" companies, but there are plenty of big regular corps looking for skilled developers and tech people in general.
The blueprints for the Saturn V were not destroyed it is merely infeasable to build a 40 year old rocket design out of what we have availible today in terms of parts.

You must be doing something horrible with your hardware then. I've had 3 computers and along with 4 store bought hard drives that have all ran in excess of one year. (My four year old dell is still running with the original hard drive) The worst case i've had is my linksys router lasted only a year, but that was probably because it spent its time directly behind my computer's exhast.
