There is a OS project called "Mac On Linux" maconlinux.org that allows Linux running on a Mac to run MacOS either full screen or in a console window in X.
They may consider a x86 port if there is the support for it-or so says their website.
I first started using Gnome on a 333 iMac. It saw my settings a little better than KDE and was a little lighter weight for the limited RAM the iMac had.
I have now installed Linux on my G4 (main machine) and have not run KDE once. My only gripe is that sometimes it cannot umount a floppy because the floppy is busy.
I have a BioBrite as well. Almost as pleasurable as waking up to the sun. I can even find the dimmer button by touch. However, when my cat notices the light it is too late even for that trick.
Anything that even sounds like MicroSoft scares or confuses me.
As a new user to linux I tried to install Debian but when it asked about setting up my MSN I balked and installed Yellowdog instead. Now I need to make a bumper sticker that says "cd ~ or bust"
