  1. What I have to do on Will Windows 10 Finally Address OS Decay? · · Score: 1

OK I get no slow down over time, BUT and there's a BIG BUT, I have multiple apps for maintenance installed. I have a LOT of apps on my pc for my music and video and photo processing equpiment and studio. I also run games at times. Once a week though I look for any new crap ware that's been snuck on and remove it, then i do a check for any windows updates that are optional and decide whether or not to install. I then run driver and program updates with THREE driver update check programs (yes they each catch things the others miss) and three programs that check for software updates in addition to the self updating programs ( and again things are picked up). I then run registry cleaners, and an error check program that cleans out temp files, active X and .com errors, etc. I follow that with a full virus scan and then a full disk scan. Reboot and a chkdsk on reboot. I also run diskeeper and keep my files consolidated. Yes, it takes a couple hours a week, but I haven't had any slowdown in two and a half years. Pain in the ass, but to me worth it for productivity. Tuck

I know how you feel. Try the difference between being a doctor in 1980 versus 2005? I've found that governemtn, insurance companies, attorneys, talk shows, etc. have made me be an "assumed" quack and danger that is "necessary" to get a prescription rather than a respected and caring individual who plans on trying to diagnosis and alleviate suffering while prolonging life. This is the media society. Suspicion and fear are rampant now. Some skepticism and common sense is needed to get by in life, but the current degree in society of almost all occupations is excessive and counterproductive. I believe the pendulum will swing backwards at some point, but how soon it will is anybody's guess. Tuck Neilson

There are books and videos available on how to exercise you isometric activites while sitting and driving. The probelem is the lack of aerobic activity. Assuming you can't bicycle to and from work the only other option is to try to add 30 mintues three or more times a week of bicycling, jump rope, brisk walking, jogging, swimming, etc. Perhaps a brisk walk on your lucnd break to and from a restaurant? Climbin up and down stairs in your building on breaks, etc? It's a tough one, but don't fool yourself into thinkg that any vitamins or health products will compensate for physical activity, good diet, and good sleep. Good luck. J. Tucker Neilson, MD, FACP

  4. I did it on Fans Attempting to Pay for Enterprise · · Score: 1

I sent an email to Paramount about a month or two ago suggesting that since Star Trek is an institution and without it mature science fiction on TV and in the Movies would not have occured, that perhaps on the order of PBS, the fans could "support" the show with contributions. I still think this is a good idea as the show will rise or fall on the fans back. If the quality isn't there the donations will stop. Face it, with TIVO and DVRs the advertising money is dwindling and fan support may become more and more common in the future. Tuck Neilson

Hey, no beef from me. In the courtrooms if you say you want to act "pro se" you are held to the standards of an attorney. If you say you want to act "pro persona" you are held to the standard of a lay or "common law" person and have more latitude when acting on your own. It's no big deal. I said I was nitpicking at the start. I agree, that not only legally, but medically and scientifically the "latin" gets mangled in it's use. Tuck

  7. Re:Huh. on Kazaa Offices Raided · · Score: 1

Just to nitpick. The term "pro se" means to act as your own attorney. The term "pro persona" or to act for oneself seems more appropriate. Outside of that I agree with your analysis and find the whole thing deplorable on the part of the "copyright" holder in this case. Tuck Neilson

Hahahahaha! The Constitution and Bill of Rights were abandoned first at the time of Abraham Lincoln, then with W. Wilson and income tax/federal reserve, then with FDR with social security, prosecution of "gold hoarders" and japanese "camps", then Johnson with Medicare, Medicaid, dept of Education, etc. Nixon gave us illegal "federal districts" and now Bush Jr. with the "Patriot Act" and "homeland security." Are you just now figuring this out? If so, good. If not, it's too late. Tuck
