um, the social reasons are actually the whole point of christianity. It started off as a big love-in community. Course, jesus goes away for a bit and the disciples start to stray! Using your faith to wipe out a couple cause they want to keep a few of their belongings doesn't sound very 'christiany' to me:)
or perhaps, the other two cultures had a glimpse into creation.
Why does everybody assume that because there are similarities it must be duplication? Then we conveniently don't mention the similarities in other creation myths that had no immediate physical/cultural contact.
Ah yes, why do two painters paint the same flower differently?
BTW, Roman catholic orthodox, the source of the trinity poison and mother of the divided church today, that whore of babylon, they don't look to kindly on the old testament.
Oh, i do believe Jesus existed. Too many scriptures (besides the ones the bible includes) talk about him. When you have other cultures talking about the crazy love hippy, there must be something there. I'll reiterate, the Trinity story is a poison meant to keep all the 'evil sinners' in place.
Actually, some of us are REALLY good at knowing the future (note, not predicting). The problem is, there's a hell of a lot more people who live life looking backwards into the past than those who look into the future.
They tend to think we're crazy, you know, because what we say has never occurred before so it's outside their 'comfort zone'. They also use terms like 'predicting the future' because knowing it is foreign to them. Interesting thing is, if you only look at the future, you actually have to make guess/predictions about the past.
Either way, you're running around half blind. The current world situation isn't going to get any better until humans start understanding and utilizing both ways of perceiving that they are 'designed' for.
umm, how about the yogi's where we get the notion of atom from in the first place. They also knew that these 'indivisible units' were made up from differing ratios of the three gunas whose respective properties seem to match up with protons, neutrons, and electrons at that level of detail. They of course, go on to the make up of the three gunas as well.
Oh, believe me, the speed was there. Could never understand how people could watch tv forever without knife splitting pain in the frontal lobe from watching each frame getting drawn, interlaced no less!!:)
Pampering the world sounds right!:) Something i've just recently discovered. Weird thing is, when i was a four-eyed, cobbled, arthritic cubicle geek who was incapable of looking at anything besides his shoes, no need to pamper anybody. People don't seem to take offense if you're smart but physically disabled. It's almost expected, like a merit badge.
The hard part for me is going back to full power. Apparently, you can't use your visual system to visualize mathematics and see the world in 3d at the same time. Or maybe i'm just too new at this whole 3d thing. I used to wonder how people could even think with any sort of intelligence while seeing the world properly without glasses. I still have my doubts:) Then there's the problem with the people with glasses. haha, they're good thinkers, but are stuck in the single plane focus of their lenses. Best to keep them on topic:)
The impossible part seems to be the likeable part. As a jack of all trades(and i do mean ALL) everybody always seems to dislike one of the trades.:)
Third tier blunders? Is that like the time i was trying to organize photos chronological by subtle details and placed pictures with the twin towers in them after 2001?
Haha, that's before i learned to see the bigger picture:) Not sure if i still qualify as genius though, dropping the aspergers and dual-monocular vision* definitely dropped my IQ. It's amazing how computationally expensive 3d vision is, and the noticeable delay between stimuli and perception that results.
Oh, in case you're wondering. Yes, my grand unified theory does sound quite 'crackpotty'. Then again, what do you expect from something that explains not only the physical, but the subjective reality as well?
*ability to focus on two seperate details at the same time. Sure, not to the ability of 'rainman' reading two books at once. Then again, i also wouldn't get lost going from the fridge to the stove. My vision wasn't that focused on extremely tiny details, though my field of view was small enough to only fit one facial feature at a time. Sort of made social interaction a little difficult:)
Sometimes you have to advance the individual man to further advance mankind.
I always thought climbing mountains was a bit useless. Then i went to Nepal:)
Haha, of course i didn't climb Everest. haha, i had altitude symptoms just from landing at Kathmandu!!(~800m). A few days later, i had trouble walking 10m at 1200m without huffing and puffing. haha, a little embarassing as the little kids zoom around you:) However, climbing to 4000m taught me just how much the body can regenerate and adapt. Haha, i used to have trouble walking and doing any sort of physical activity. I wasn't/couldn't participate in phys ed in school, shin splints, arthritis, and couldn't see without glasses.
Most important thing i learned? Use both lungs, it makes life so much easier. That and try and avoid paralysis from polio vaccines that make it really hard to use both lungs.
Just out of curiousity, what's the mobility of your cervical spine, i.e., how many degrees can your head rotate about it's center, cervical spine only.
Research, or just observation? Everywhere i've gone in the world i could tell tops from bottoms by where they locate the curves in their backs, how much range of motion, and whether range of motion is mainly anterior or posterior. haha, this occurs in heterosexuals too, tilt to extreme one way, you're an asshole, too much the other way and you're a dick:)
I have a theory, please don't be offended. All people divide themselves or have been divided, i.e., i am this, i'm not that. Gays (most of them) have been divided along the extremes. Everybodies job is to get back to wholeness, and we do this by being exposed/experiencing that which we lack or have seperated ourselves from. These extreme postures don't make you automatically gay, but gayness provides greater opportunities to discover your 'other' male half. I actually find the less extreme divisions quite funny, you'll see a lot of the masculine taller woman with the feminized shorter man, which is usually a brain for brawn trade:)
dream states are actually awesome for visualizing mathematics. Of course, it helps if you can do math in your head without writing anything down:)
Lucidity is pretty simple, two major components, awareness and emotional control. Lucidity is sort of a base marker for a persons personal evolution. One must be aware what is occuring around them and not blinded by their thoughts. This allows the person to realize they're dreaming. Any sort of emotional outburst will break the lucidity, hence amount of emotional control dictates how long the session of lucidity.
'God has a plan' and 'God gave you free will' are not mutually exclusive.
God set the rules for the universe,i.e., every action has a consequence, and gave you freewill to do as you wish. Perhaps his plan is to develop a moral being that has freewill. Maybe all it takes for us to become god-like is to choose to always do what is best for all humans, including oneself. Our ignorance and selfishness as humans is definitely largely responsible for the hell that most people live in today, in the past, hopefully not in the future.
You're assuming that both passages are referring to the same being.
Why do we assume that the ancients were idiots and used different 'names of god' on a poetic whim? Perhaps they used different terms because they were speaking of different entities or facets of entities?
Eliminating delusion has nothing to do with the doing away of possessions.
Imagine that every object around you is constantly broadcasting a litany of associations, memories, interactions that you have had together. For some people it is easier to get the peace and quiet they need to meditate by getting rid of all those broadcasting sources. Paradoxically, those that require getting rid of their possessions are the ones who are so attached to them that they can't think straight with them around! Eventually, balance is learned.
With food, losing the desire to eat does not change the fact that the body does require nourishment. What is 'lost' is the association that pleasure comes from sensations derived from food. One can in fact still enjoy the sensations of eating, without having the desire to eat.
In this way, i think of lots of christians, buddhists, and scientists, as afraid to go out into the rain. They build little islands of protection, little safe havens from which they don't go out and confront reality.
Maybe the infant died of sepsis because the humans dirtied the sh!t out of the place?
Freewill and all that you know? People bitch god out all the time, they never seem to realize Humans are the cause behind all the atrocities AND the good things in the world. The more we grow out of ignorance and sin/excess, the more we take responsibility for our actions as individuals, communities, nations, people of earth, the more our planet will begin to resemble heaven on earth.
God allows stuff to happen just like we allow our children to fall as they attempt their first step. Eventually, us humans will get it and learn to walk.
Not saying i believe in the existence of a god, just playing devil's advocate:). God isn't required to explain the hell and misery most people live in, nor for creating a heaven on earth.
You animals who live in a vacuum need to learn about it.

Is this really news for nerds, cause it look like dem nerds dunno ow to tink!

ewww, changed every few days? I hope you guys didn't have a lot of business! did you guys at least filter?
ah, the old sweep-the-dust-under-the-rug trick.

You mean, dumb individuals are smarter in groups. Smart people constantly challenge all of their assumptions, umm, that's why we're smart :)
Haha, that's before i learned to see the bigger picture :) Not sure if i still qualify as genius though, dropping the aspergers and dual-monocular vision* definitely dropped my IQ. That's just Kali doing her job. Equality through lowest common denominator.

Haven't been to Canada have you? Doctors get paid per visit, nothing to do with treatment or curing. It's like speed dating in most of those offices!
Haha, Then again, you'll probably just steal it from canada :)

What a joyless world it must be trapped inside one's head.
Have you never really witnessed the kindness of a stranger? The smile of a baby?
God is experienced, you must partake in the world to witness god, you must be whole and complete.
You're assuming that both passages are referring to the same being.

It's called energy. We are beings made of energy yet we often forget and believe we're animals fashioned of flesh and blood.
God is the playing field, the quantum soup. Communicating with god is just remembering you're a drop of soup.
