Is IP Property?

Would you rather see J.K. Rowling making billions of dollars off the Harry Potter books, or would you rather see her still trying to make ends meet as a substitute teacher while single-handedly raising her daughter, and only writing in what little spare time she has because "IP wants to be freex0r!" Same goes for Mike Mignola, Neal Stephenson, or whatever other successful author you want to blow.
Unlike the current problems with patent law, IP law IS still working, and encouraging people to believe they can make a living as an author/artist/whatever because there are laws protecting their creations.
Dude, I hate to tell you, but bailing out a bankrupt company doesn't count as "ripping off". SNK was in MAJOR trouble when Aruze bought them out and floated them until SNK could reform as Playmore and buy back their IPs.
Aruze obviously saw some good in the arcade industry, so they're trying their hand at it, and I'm overjoyed that they're doing so; I've been waiting for a Leeenooox-based "MVS" cabinet for a long time. I was about to buy an Atomiswave, but now I'm going to wait and see how this does.
...a gigantic flag sprouting out of the top of the vehicle to make it visible to the SUVs everyone else is driving, and keep it from getting smooshed. A constant blaring siren would help, too.
I'm all for tiny, efficient electric cars, but when everyone else on the road is driving a Hummer, even the Neon I drive now is really too small to be safe.
...and I have a T1 at work, something comparable at my local library, a 128mb USB key ($35 at Wal-Mart), and some blank CDs. Besides large porn video downloads, why would I want to spend $40 a month on broadband, exactly?

So, why can't Linux just use Windows' drivers?
