Finally people are going to start waking up to what is going on around them. Our whole economic system needs to be abolished for this very reason. It only serves the rich and wealthy and it only addresses one motive, profit. There are more than just this one motive to make products. Some people make products to help other people, some make things because they enjoy the act of creation. We have system that serves only one purpose and a select group of people, the rest try to get themselves into the rich and wealthy group while the rest who choose to not focus so much on making money for the sake of making money suffer. So when (not if) someone in the US commits a suicide bombing in a crowded public place like an airport or train station or sporting event or political rally, the authorities will start screening people just as invasively to get into those as well. They've already started with metal detectors and bag searches in some of these places, and it's just going to get worse. Step by step, we're moving toward becoming a search-and-surveillance society, in which the Fourth Amendment might keep you secure from search and seizure in your home (because that public-safety rationale doesn't apply there), but not when you venture out into public places.

The real goal of all this extra security, IMHO is to make it so difficult to travel that people stop trying. As we move closer and closer to a currency collapse its going to be panic in the streets and by then, they will have the necessary security in place to restrict people from leaving the country. You will likely see slow roll out of other security measures like facial recognition cameras and audio surveillance devices that pick out key words of people that don't support the current government agenda. All this is going to be added slowly over time as to not arouse too much resistant as more people become used to the new security measures and it be comes part of our lives. The did the same thing during World War II, The Third Reich convinced many countries to buy into allowing the them occupy their country, over time they kept imposing restriction after restriction until for enough people it became a normal part of every day living. By the time the realized their country had been taking from them, it was too late.

It might be a good idea to conciser that something similar is happening this country, there is enough evidence from various incidents from 911 to the all the crap the bush administration pushed though to at least come to the conclusion that something about all this isn't quite right if you read about some of the facts that lead up to all of this hysterical war on terror bullshit.

I know its not easy to think about, but we might be in a situation where we might be the generation that will pay the price, if we dont stop deny what our conscious is telling us.

I know it sound like a conspiracy nut but man, I cant deny what is happening right now.. I hope more people become aware of what is going on instead of listening to what the mainstream media is telling them.

Maybe for some people. Personally, I get hung up on the claims that the quote makes. First, that the average age of great civilizations was 200 years. This seems to be a carefully chosen date to correlate with the democratic revolutions that took place in France, the U.S., Mexico, and many other countries at the end of the last major colonial/imperial age. That is, chosen to be particularly relevant right about when the quotation is published. Any of my attempts at verifying that figure independently have used that quote as a primary source (that is, it cannot be verified independently and is likely bunk).

I say "is" because this quotation has been re-used several times in history (from 1951 to 2000) particularly around election times and other politically important events.

Also, the quote treats this pattern as a proven and established pattern, even though democracy in it's modern form and the way we have it (with a constitution and checks of power) is relatively recent.

That is, the author makes an unsupported argument and uses careful weasel-wording and timing to appeal to his audience.

If you've read Frank Herbert's Dune, it's very similar to the Missionary Protectiva concept: slight of hand with careful timing to spur action.

It is a great quote for sure, but one to be skeptical of and to carefully examine, not to take at face value.

I think too many people are focusing on the symptoms(ECONOMY) instead of what the root cause of the problem (CORRUPTION).
