Far more likely is some beleaguered sysadmin made pointed comments and emails to management who were too "busy" with their "meetings" at the 19th hole to act on. A sysadmin can only do what his PHB's give him/her time and budget to accomplish. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and the other kitsch. Lemme say, I don't miss the having my name associated with such idiocy.

any idea if LXDE is using the current/latest 11.04 GTK libraries? My understanding is that XFCE is using older libraries, which are deprecated and scheduled to disappear, given how long it was till 4.8 came out it have my doubts that it will stay in the main stream. Id like to move to a desktop that uses existing conventions but will be kept up to date by the underlying Ubuntu repositories. the lubuntu faq doesn't address it.

another craps afficianado here (check crapsfest.com and/or diceinstitute.com for others of us. I personally feel its good form to (when I remember) put a dollar down on top of my passline bet offset to one-side of my chip(s) when I get the dice on and loudly announce "dealers on the line! Player controlled.". The announcement serves to a) ensure the boxcritter knows that a dealer bet is on the table. b) to hopefully encourage other players to do the same (not as successful a strategy as I would hope). The player control (indicated by the top+offset placement) allows me to tell the dealer to "pay yourself and keep yourself up" to allow them to participate in any streak. or parley it, if I am really hot. Otherwise (with the dealer bet placed beside your bet) they sweep it into the toke box on a win, of course the house gets it on a come-out craps or seven-out. If I am not "on", I will hand in a tokes. A good rule of thumb, regardless of whether you hand it in ("one for the boys") or make a bet on their behalf, do it during the play. Doing it when you leave is nice, but now you've left the table, it wont get you any leverage. It's no guarantee, but a consistent toke can sometimes get you some slack on tn those questionable rolls. With one die leaning against a chip stack. If the dealers are on the line and they have a choice of calling it a seven-out or not, what do you think will most probably happen.
    See you at the table!

There needs to be an install question asking if you want a plain jane, low impact, do nothing till I click, you might even say "restricted" GUI experience. No transparency, no bouncing cursor, no animation: absolutely NONE, no raise/lower (just paint it please), no grow/shrink, dump the gradients, it's not the 90s anymore, no wallpaper, definitely no animated wallpaper. No automatic submenu display, or if you must, institute an X millisecond delay, similarly for the button focus highlighting. look for the mouse pointer to come to rest. If the mouse is in motion DONT DO FOREGROUND DRAWING!!!!, better yet interrupt any drawing currently in progress because more likely than not, it is no longer of interest, if it ever was in the first place. Wanna test how painful the default settings are? connect to a server via XRDP and interact with a KDE virtual machine through the console. Yes I have searched out half of the eleventy seven different tweaks to try and get a usable desktop, including the low power graphics & low power cpu (its not, but I don't need to be choking the connection with redraws for display gimcrackery). I really don't give a rats petuti about the latest thematic innovation with swirling/twirling facebook monioring. Now if they can do it in a 16 color palette, it would really make my day. I want/like most of the KDE applications, there is just way too much frosting on the cake and too many kids on the lawn.

Additionally, as a result of the antics that the movie kinda/sorta depicted most casinos have gone to a six deck shoe and barred buying in in the middle of a shoe. There are some casinos that still have two deck shoes (this info is over 6 months old) Flamingo $20 min bet and Wynn, autos-huffler $100 min (that means you should have a $4500 min session bankroll). All that tedious counting and concentration, at the mercy ov statistical variance until the shoe (occasionally) turns in your favor in a struggle to gain a 1.5% or so edge. I'll take a lively game of craps, 1.41% against you on a passline backed with a free odds bet, even lower on a 10x or better odds table.
