ASUS has a lot of its workforce in mainland China, where most of the installed software, both personal and on company computers, is pirated.
Officially the government is against piracy, and at regular intervals raids are conducted in visual places, but at the whole I don't think they will shed any tears if MS looses licensing revenues.
The better the anti piracy control is the more people will use FOSS. Because piracy disrupts the free market. If you can get something worth $200 for free, why choose something truly free (worth $0)?
Now, I am not a calendar "expert", but I'm having a difficult time believing that Windows 2003 server is up an average of 364 * 1.2, or 436.8 days a year.
TFA forgot to mention the slight calender bug in Windows 2k3. Linux only shows uptime in the traditional calender way. With the new and improved way of counting Microsoft can obviously show higher numbers, just like you have demonstrated. 437 days of uptime a year. Try to beat that RedHat! )

I bought a DVD recorder for backup purposes. But
then my government added a piracy tax for recordable DVD media.
So now my personal interpretation is that, since I'm paying for DVD piracy, I should start to get some value for my money. Anyway I would not feel guilty for pirating
My guess is that this will be very popular among those that are planning to migrate. Now they can run things in parallell before they switch the bulk of their HW/SW....

Until Adobe started killing Framemaker, it was widely used as a word processor in multi os environments.
It didn't look great. It wasn't the most intuitive program. It wasn't the fastest. But it worked on all platforms, and the documents could be opened, edited, printed and saved on all platforms.
We put all our project documentation in it, due to our various OSes.
Now that Adobe no longer seems interested in supporting multiple platforms, we are migrating away.
Mac and Linux: Unfortunately I don't have dates for either of these. However, Linux binaries will be
available very soon after the PC game hits store shelves. There are no plans for boxed Linux games.
More remains to be done for the OSX version of DOOM 3 and that will take some time. We won't release
the OSX version until it's just as polished as the PC version. The date for OSX DOOM 3 remains "when it's
done", but I can confirm that it's definitely coming.
This is a good point in general. Be ware of sweet promises, at least from strangers:)
An actual case of this was the introduction of Hyundai on the europeean market. A relative of mine bought one of these wonders, since they were cheap and had an all inclusive 5-year-warranty.
He said that if there was any problem with the car he could just go and get it fixed. And he figured that he got a great deal, because the car was cheap, even if it just lasted for five years.
The only problem was that the quality was so low, that the car developed problems faster than he had time to go to the dealer and get it fixed. After four years the car looked like peace of junk.
"The game is capped at 60fps for normal game play. For render demos, like what was used for the HardOCP stuff, we run those at full tilt which is why you will see 60fps."
This quote made no sense to me until I did RTFA, and realized that it was faulty. What really was written in the article was:
"...which is why you will see > 60fps."
I for one welcome this move to stop the distribution of movies filmed by the audience in theathers.
This will homefully deter people from spreading poor quality bootlegs.
However, this means that the average movie spread on the internet will be of higher quality. I wonder if the MPAA really has thought this one through...
A CAM version of a movie is not a replacement for buying it. But if the only copies spread on the internet are DVD-rips, this could have a negative impact on VHS/DVD rentals and sales
So if people were encurraged to bring cameras to the theatre and shoot crappy bootlegs, the internet would be flooded by a lot of different versions of low quality files. And anyone downloading stuff would get dissapointed.
A personal note: I once watched a downloaded movie "filmed in Tilt-o-vision(tm) in front of a live theatre audience" and I woved to myself never to do that again because of the poor quality. I guess the MPAA feels the same way:)
"But a Microsoft product would theoretically integrate better with Windows desktop machines, and if the company can serve up an impressive offering, Linux could be in for a tussle."
Meanwhile, children of Communist officials are making millions of dollars from running state owned enterprises.
Even worse, corrupt central or regional leaders pocket bribes in large scales, then run off to countries like the US. And live the rest of their life in confort and safety. Because the US doesn't want to extradite corrupt communist leaders to China.
To call China a communist country is to show a complete lack of understanding of socialist politics.
Something a lot of people miss out on is that there is a big difference between communism and socialism. China is a country striving for their brand of communism and also capitalism at the same time. Socialism however, is not a goal for China.
I.e. they have a one party system, where the small peoples oppinion don't matter (== "PRC communism"). But a very minimal social welfare system. If you get sick and don't have money, insurrance or an employer willing to pay for you, you don't get any medical care (== hard core capitalism).

According to the .plan of the ID software CEO there will be a Linux version soon:

Or, perhaps it is because the server is located in Germany, and run by a German company
"KCC Europe" stands for Korea Computer Center (link to a page in german) and seems to be a company with relations to North Korea.
My german is a little rusty. Anyone who can translate?

POV-Ray is not free software. But it seems to be open source. At their web site there are links that seems to point at the source

Well, 6.25% of 0 is... 0
(For those too lazy to read the article, the new tax is on "software licensed or leased by the developer", currently not taxed)
