Burger King and McDonalds both had to get special permission from corporate so that they could offer you a Big Mac without lettuce, or a whopper without sauce.
Before that (the "have it your way" wars) you had to pick the stuff off that you didn't want, because altering the sandwich was against policy.
I read an interesting article about how, in the past 3 years, there have been just shy of 80 million home gaming consoles (not handheld). Do you know how many GAMING PCs were sold? Not the crappy HP boxes you have at work, mind you, but real GAMING PCs?
"Where the quests I'm on are only mine: they haven't been done by anyone, and after me no one will do them again."
For WoW, that would be over 10 million accounts with on average 3-4 characters each. Each of those characters needs to have unique quests to get them from 1-80 (for now). That is an INSANE amount of work. Especially considering that you only have so much room for NPCs and mobs.
If you're the kind of person who has to hunt down drivers because you don't know what's in your computer, you have a pre-made computer that comes with a restore disc.
People don't build their own computer and go "oh, do I need drivers? how do I get those?"
"I've never lived in a city which turned off their streetlights for part of the night, so I'm not sure what consumption change would be possible there."
Well, where I live all the street lights are automated to turn on when it gets dark out. If it's darker for longer in the winter, they'd run more. They don't care what time it is, if it's dark they're on.
The problem with all the social features of the Zune is that you're never going to find someone else who has one. Of all the people I know with MP3 players, only one of those is a Zune. The rest are iPods (most are actually iPhones).
I'll admit that the Zune has some pretty nice features that I wish I had in my iPhone, but I'm not willing to give up what I have in my iPhone for some cool features I'll probably never use.
The new 360s have much lower failure rates. They fixed what was causing the RROD and I believe it's down from a 30% rate of failure to something along the lines of 6%.
And being able to jump helps you avoid being killed.
The only reason you can't jump in GoW is because they were worried people wouldn't use their ripped off cover system, proving that jumping is just as useful in video-game combat as a cover system.

WoW existed for about 2-3 years without a LFG system other than a channel that was spammed with all kinds of garbage.
Ask anyone who remembers how the global LFG channel went.

179 million units.
PC Gaming is as strong as ever, if not stronger.

Exactly, the ISP didn't get shut down, a group of security researchers got the ISP to shut off a customer that was breaking the terms of use.
IIRC the patent DID run out, and that's why Mega Bloks are kosher.
One Christmas I spread my Lego bricks around the Christmas tree and on the stairs, to try to catch Santa.
:(
At about midnight there was a lot of swearing, and I found out that Santa wasn't real.
You like Danish cheese? I love Cheese Danish.
Agent for HARM and Secret Agent Super Dragon were better than Death Ray, IMO.
I think "Who's the better evil sidekick" is even worse than "Who's the better host." As far as nerdy debates, I mean.
(Mike is funnier.)
Rowsdowermobile AWAY!
Side note: I have a friend who has the last name "Roscover" and I call him Rowsdower.

Your loss. There's no way that a RTS can be enjoyable on a console.
"But haven't most households switched to CFLs and other energy-efficient lighting?"
No. Very few houses actually contain people who care. I don't mean to sound like a troll, but that's the facts.
My favorite thing about working 12 hour shifts is going in before the sun is up and getting out after it's gone down.
That's pretty fucking depressing.

Well, you also have to remember that this time of the year is getting colder, so more people are having hot meals and beverages.
Set your router up with OpenDNS.

Right, but those billions have already been pissed away. Shutting down what is now a profitable division because in the past it lost money is silly.
He said copyright, not patent.
It's what CliffyB said when asked: "Why is there no jumping?"

Well, they have a bunch of power armor. What's the point of power armor if it can't jump?
