    I live in Massachusetts and just renewed my license, there's no magnetic strip on it. There's something that looks, not like a bar code, but something like one. But no magnetic strip.

    Like I said, if you aren't responsible in your personal and financial lives, I don't trust you to be responsible enough to show up to work, do a good job, and not steal shit.

    Uh, dude? If you've got 10 maxed out credit cards, I don't want you working in my company. Not knowing how to manage your money, and needing money, are two good reasons for it. Being irresponsible means you may show up late or not at all, needing money means that when you show up, I have to keep an eye on you to make sure you're not stealing shit.

    I've got a family member who is a Human Resources manager, and, while I've never heard of the whole finger printing thing, background checks with law enforcement are SOP.

    I can even understand pulling your credit report as part of the process, someone who is bad with money is probably more likely to steal shit from their employer.

    But I don't see what finger printing does that searching their social security number can't do.

    Even if they could infect 50m servers as easily as 50m desktops, they wouldn't. Because servers tend to have full time staff who are experts at de-pwning them. While the average grandmother calls her grandson over who is 'good with computers' AKA he plays a lot of counter-strike.

    Well, according to the story from yesterday, I believe, the MPG of hybrids was actually incorrect, and was over-estimating the average MPG by more than 10mpg. Meaning the Prius not only looks pretty ugly, but it gets slightly better mileage than my Honda Civic which isn't hybrid. Plus, I don't have to worry about disposing of batteries ($$$) and replacing the batteries (more $$$).

    Windows Desktops are more valuable to a cracker than Linux servers, since the bum doesn't know you robbed him and you can keep doing it. And instead of robbing one bum, you rob 50 million of them. While you're stuck robbing 150-200 banks. The bank security will catch you sooner, too.

    Put an unpatched XP computer without service packs on the internet. On average, it is still compromised within 30 seconds. It takes no effort on the part of the botmaster to compromise new Windows based computers.

    There are still more windows Desktop machines than Linux/Apache servers. And if it was equally as difficult to hack the windows desktop and the linux server, the windows desktop would still be hacked more, since there are just more of them.
