I've seen many comments about picking up a few new languages, and I have to agree, diversity is key to IT survival from what friends have told me. My query is, what if your love of IT isn't for code? I can read through a few key sections looking for a bug, but being told to code X application or part of an application isn't for me. I have a rough time remembering commands and sitting for hours on end, not my cup of tea. Is there any hope for the hardware side other then a Best Buy TechMonkey?
However, if the person were to bring up a civil suit and the jury ruled in his favor, would that set any precedent legally, or only open the door to more civil lawsuits?
What irked me about the books was how MegaMan kept using metal blade on everything. Cause you know using that would have you running out before you left the first part of the stage, and some bosses would just laught it right off. I'm looking at you there AirMan.

I'm in agreement here. unless they create sandbox areas for new players, or artifically divide the player-base, older players with more powerful civilizations/creatures will just grief new users. Has this been addressed yet in the system, or will it be one of those "features" which inspires new players to try new things?
Considering the brand of humor used for PA, I think these ads actually have a chance of meaning something to the audience.
Still waiting for the R and AO ads to appear in Playboy and Hustler though.
It's all just another sign that we're so enraptured with technology that it's become strange to not have it. Try giving out a card with just your name and number, and see how many ask for your email address as well.
Heck, try to imagine living life without internet access, email addresses, MP3s, or anything computer related. We've become so intergrated that a PC is now a necessary part of life.
It makes you wonder what basic "accessable price to everyone" is considered. $550 is not in that range though, in my opinion.
Also, why would most people want to own one of these kits? Does the average person really want to know or care about what's floating over their airwaves? It seems like another niche item to waste money on.
Still, with the ability to communicate in real time, as well as the ability of the contestants to search the net and contact other people across the globe for details, even if they were in the middle of no where (depending celluar reception), the parameters of the gaming enviroment can be expanded. You can have more obscure clues, drop hints at a moments notice, give false leads, or have other contestants band together for help, or have a lone wolf who gives out mis-information.
Should be interesting, at least in my opinion.
Really, I think what the issue here is "do I really want to get suckered into buying this?"
The only reason you'd buy any of these systems is because you want to play Game X on them. And at this point, the "option to upgrade" seems a lot like getting your PC upgraded to go play Oblivion. So why not wait and get your PC upgraded? You know if the game is really good you can wait for the PC version, which will have all the patches and expandable content, plus all the home-grown modification packages, while surfing/. and other sites, as well as playing all your old games. or at the very least, getting an emulator and playing it on there.
I only see myself getting the Wii, after the first price drop. Otherwise, I think I'll sit this generation of gaming software out. I need that $500~$600 in order to buy gas for my car, get to work, feed myself, and pay my bills much more then enjoying MGS4 or Halo 3.
I really am wondering if there will be any perks/free content for those of us who bought Uru when it first came out, were on the origional servers, and have bought all the contact/Until Uru activation. Or do we get a "thanks for the support" and a pet on the head?
So you're saying we should of stayed out and let Sadam keep doing what he did best: opressing and killing?
I agree we probably did things the wrong way, but at least we're not setting up Iraq as the new 51st state, we're trying to give them a frame-work and then leave, make them part of the world and hopefully not another boiling cess-pool of extreamism either way (religious or pro-america).

Taylor also said that after reviewing Quake III he had trouble getting his mind out of the game.
"I'd play it, then walk out into the office corridor and realize I was looking at my co-workers as potential targets," said Taylor. "I was so used to killing anything that moved."
They're protecting you from the common sense of capitalism of course!
"Of course I want the invisible undercarraige protection coating. It's a steal for only an extra $300"
Sadly, the public will lap it up I'd wager. What's next, bananas that cost $3 more and come wrapped in plastic "for prevention of banana piracy"?
One of the big points we were always told when doing mock interviews -- write a letter afterwards thanking them for the interview, and make sure it's grammatically correct and the spelling errors are almost non-existant.
That my friends, is one of the points to help get a job: prove you can write coherent sentences.
What's sad is that in a few years corperate emails will end up with "d00d phear teh 410s!"
Wow, suprised no one has mentioned Frag yet. Even among a group of normal people, frag has that magic ability to pull people together just to frag off the guy in the lead, just like in a real FPS!
Other grand board games:
-- Munchkin, a great way to introduce people to playing RPGs (although it's mostly the unsavory elements, it at least peaks the interest)
-- Orcs At The Gates, best played with people who throw quotes around
"You take a full blast of Acid dragon breath to the face, causing you to stumble backwards off a 300ft. cliff and into a pool of lava..."

It's a nice thought, but just one problem: Games are inheriently about competition. Even a friendly game of UNO is about being the first.
I doubt that a game based on "values" could really make it in market, and also doubt that any company would bet on it to make it.
Still, I like the idea. The big question is the fun/replay value. I wonder if there is a way around the competition problem, hmm...
Please make the games as good as they used to be, with the ability to make your own MODs by editing the INI file.
I don't know why, but after RA2 the game just went to crap with Renegade and Generals. I just want to pretend they never existed, and we're all still waiting for Tiberium Dusk
I remember the giddy feeling i'm sure all of us got when playing those origional LucasArts games of Monkey Island, Sam & Max, etc.
Really, All I ask of them is great story. While graphics and sound updates would be nice, I really can't see doing the game in 3D or anything. I think one of the monkey islands had a joke about a 3rd dimension?
Anyone else think that the games should be left in 2D? or are there some merits for 3D?
It might be too late, but I hope it's an idea that spreads otu over the MMORPG community. It's way too easy to turn a game into "level treadmill + loot hunt". I like the weird things that pop up, one of the reasons why Monkey Island will always be my favorite series.
I'm all for this idea, and if implemented correctly I might even go pay for the privilage to play on it. It'd be interesting to find a data disk and pad, and end up with a wanted poster for Solo or Skywalker.
So what do us grads do?
Sorry, you need experience to get a job, but your SOL cause to get the job you need experience.
With entry level going to outside sources, how the hell are we going to get the experience, unless we happen to be genius level people who knew how to write C# in the womb or something?
as one of the many grads churned out and lookign for work, I can say that things like that are nice perks, but a better perk is a steady salary and being able to move away from home.
If I get perks, I see those as rewards for a job well done above and beyond what is required for my salary.
Some of us who lined up wern't there for the "new flash" factor. It was an interesting opportunity to see not only the amount of people gathering, but also to meet up with other fans and talk about expectations, root for those who got in the little games set up outside the store, and just chat. It was like a small convention that lasted for only a few hours.

Why all the argument over which input to use?
Some people like myself grew up playing things via a controller, and are more comfortable using it then the WASD and mouse. Others were playing Doom & Quake with the keyboard and mouse, and like that setup. So everyone enjoy what you like using, and keep the testosterone levels down on little subjects like this. It makes all of us look very petty to argue about this, when instead the thread is about the gameplay, music, plot, etc of the game. Grade it on it's merit, not your bias towards PC or console.
When o when will we get that fabulous parking system from "The Car of Tomorrow" cartoon?
Wheels go side-ways, slide directly in, and voila!
Even better - The Foldable Car. Fits right in your pocket.
My main problem is the size. what happens when you want to fiddle with the insides of this thing? I already ahve trouble fitting my bear hands into the case just to add more ram, or unplug a power cable to the CD-ROM.
Personally I wish I could fine a larger case, or at least a case that allowed easy access to most everything.
