Considering the presumed way that asteroids formed, it seems unlikely that veins of anything formed in them. The veins of precious and rare metals here on earth happened, primarily, as a result of our molten core. Asteroids, in general, lack such a hi-temp oven, or strong gravity, to allow metals to coagulate into veins. HOWEVER, the detector seems it'd be a great tool to have - in general. Go team go!

For those that cannot see the point: It seems that MOST folks would immediately nuke all ISIS they can find. That MIGHT work - if we could be sure we get them all. Yet, we are likely not going to get them all, and may in fact 'feed the fire' and cause more factions against (us). It may be that ISIS are people too, that MAY be misled or misguided. There is more than one way to eradicate a deadly disease besides all-out mass violence.

  8. Mr. Kimmel is actually correct: ISIS is NOT necessarily evil; albeit it certainly seems they do relatively evil things - from OUR perspective. ANY intelligent human can see that Mr. Kimmel's remark reflects that understanding the deeper MO of ISIS as being reactionary for their cause seems an important consideration in getting to an effective mitigation for ultimately ending the violence. I get nearly nowhere when I yell at my subordinates (i.e. proverbially cut off their heads). I get MUCH further when I take the time to understand my subordinates' mistake and work to show them a more effective and mutually beneficial resolution (i.e. explain the part they apparently misunderstood). (I guess I am luck that I have friends that do this for me!)

  11. "Leaving" for the (stars) seems to be an issue related to both biological and robotic astronauts. It is the logistics of the actual travel that is concerning - food, environmental needs, psychology, physiology, ... Robots eat very little, seldom complain or get emotional, can tolerate wider temperature fluctuations, can tolerate little to no atmosphere, can tolerate higher levels of radiation, can go longer without exercise, create less waste (poop and pee), and likely live longer. Further, it seems that with the ever-increasing improvements in battery technology, recharging via solar or other means would potentially extend a robots' reach much further than mortal men. Meanwhile, we can work on: 1st) FTL communications to communicate with those robots in a more timely manner; and 2nd) FTL transportation technologies so we can get there and back quicker!

I just moved from an address where I was finally getting a handle on the junk mail is was getting. It had been a nightmare! Junk mail would find it's way into my mailbox yet the truly important stuff would get lost or delayed! Perhaps this is a result of the specific postal office for that address - bad local management, et al... HOWEVER - since I invoked permanent forwarding to my new address, I am getting deluged with junk mail again! Obviously, the default is for the USPS to opt-in my 'new' address to every junk mail service they can sell my address to. I vehemently object! I want a say in that! The default SHOULD be to be opt-ed out, with a option to opt-in when I file for the forwarding. Does this not seem like the sensible, logical thing to do 'by the people, for the people'? As opposed to 'by non-human entities, too the people'! My point is that privacy has been abused ever since constitutional rights have been getting abused. And now it is merely standard practice. It is now up to you, the individual, to protect your self; because our corporate government is failing to do so.
