Who "discovered" an idea won't be as important post-singularity, so it would be appropriate to have a novel about the singularity be from "Anonymous" (Primary Colors still made money this way).
See, you can copy lines of code, but the original remains. But when you steal market share, it has to be subtracted somewhere. You can steal money and bananas. You cannot steal music and movies.
Creative commons, GPL, and all are useful and all, but just for pure simplicity, why not "This is in the public domain"? This site doesn't seem to be selling anything or "evil" in any way--but all that legal text!
Shouldn't isolating sentience and building a computer around that sentient core come first? Maybe we'll even be able to upload ourselves into it. This goal dwarfs space exploration completely, but once accomplished, Mars exploration will be a lot easier without having to deal with all that evolutionary load. No need to terraform.
Sure I'm libertarian like many other nerds, but I can't think of a good reason to fake email. I want my whitelists to work. A technical solution is always better, though.
Now it's reading the brain. But eventually it will be reading a deeper part of the brain, and not needing the rest of it.

Intelligent people aren't as influenced by advertising.
Bothering to look ordinary could be useful mainly to hide your hidden implanted guass gun.
It might be possible to register it with the copyright office as public domain. It is $30 ($1Eh), but it will be in permanent record.

I've been looking into various aspects of neuroscience. Do you work for an implant maker?
It should be as easy as a probe inserted into the third ventricle of the brain to upload the self to a computer.
