    The Microsoft thing happened because Microsoft termed the MSN $400 rebate as a loan, and California law says you can't bundle a product with a loan.

    All of them, from what remember, can use both the RDP and ICA client protocols. I have set up a number of them using ICA over both modem and LAN. My experience with RDP is limited to "Oh, look, RDP works."

    I have seen many bar code readers that are serial in nature. The Citrix client for Linux can't do serial emulation, hence, problems with bar code readers.

    Waste time? What if Linus hadn't "wasted his time", and instead worked on Minix or 386BSD, where would you be now?

    People do this as a hobby, because they find it fun. It may not benefit anyone else but them, but who cares?

    Yes, DMZ is "Demilitarized Zone", and it refers to the area of the network that is after the external router, but still in front of the firewall. It is used for externally accessable services, like a web server, dns server or mail relay.

    Last time I added drives to a 3.2 server, I didn't have to shutdown. Open front, push drive in, DISMOUNT DATA2, LOAD INSTALL, MOUNT DATA2.

    Try using IE 5 on Solaris or HP/UX. Watch how fast you run back to netscape. Seriously. I don't know how they did it, but IE 5 is sluggish on an Ultra 30 w/ 256mb ram.

    They DID have a patchkit. It was about 31 NLM replacements and a patch for SERVER.EXE. I know because I installed it on a server.

    BTW - Novell 3.2 was basicly 3.12 with Y2K patches.

    If you go and buy Windows 95 off a store shelf (if you could find a copy) it's the first release. Why? Inventory.

    Nope, it's support. They don't want to have to train their OS tech people on original, OSR 2, 2.1 and 2.5. They (Microsoft) want the OEMs to handle that kind of stuff.
