That "naughty" comment has me imagining the different OS makers as hollywood highschool boyfriends now.

Microsoft: Football jock from a rich family. Has problems playing nice with those outside his little world and expects periodic gifts from you. But he does have a nice car and all the cool toys, plus his family just invited you to the bahamas for vacation.

Apple: Eccentric artist. Cute, paints, writes poetry, and can act. But has a HUGE ego due to loyal groupies. Expects you to pay for everything on dates.

Google: Reporter for the school newspaper. Nice guy, gets on well with others. Gives you lots of gifts, though some are not very well thought out. Constantly taking pictures of you, including some you really shouldn't have agreed to.

I doubt tattletale functionality will be added to driverless systems. Atleast one that tells the cops when someone drives badly.
Dashcam recordings for accident purposes, from the involved vehicles, is a given.

Maybe they would do it if the system can detect a "how is my driving?" sticker on the back of a commercial vehicle. But I suspect that would be more geared toward advertising to the transport company.

Car merges infront and suddenly decelerates.

Most commercial truck driver out there will tell you this has happened to them as a close call or actual accident atleast once in their career on an interstate. Usually an inattentive driver or someone who just sees the required space between the semi and the next person infront of them as wasted driving space. But sometimes it's an idiot who doesn't understand physics and wants to brake check a semi.

So yes, it is entirely possible for the car you're rear ending to be the cause of the accident.

Yup. The growing medium just needs to be structurally supportive, non reacting, and in some hydroponic setups, capable of holding a little bit of water.
The only personal experience I have is with an aerogarden unit, and the seed pods for that are just plastic sponges. Though I have read about using ceramic beads, coconut fiber, or even just clean gravel if you're cheap.

  19. Re:So does this qualify as 'organic'? on Philips Is Revolutionizing Urban Farming With New GrowWise Indoor Farm · · Score: 4, Informative

Overfertilization is an issue because farms can't economically control the runoff from their farm.
That's not an issue here as the hydroponic system fully contains the water.

Infact it is much more economical, with a system this size, to recycle the water as it finishes a run through your system instead of dumping it. A good amount of nutrients stay unused. So you scrub out the waste, fix the nutrient imbalances, and send it back through the system. That's why these guys claim as low as 5L of water for a kilo of tomatoes, instead of the 30-60L for other greenhouses and 214L for standard farming (from a quick google search).

Just as debeers made it so you can't call a synthetic carbon crystal a Diamond, you can expect a push to require Organic produce be dirt planted and have sunlight access as the main photosynthesis source.

They can suck it for all I care. Farms like these could be deployed pretty much anywhere and make the vast majority of your grocery store produce Locally Sourced.
Screw early harvests, forced ripening, and breeding for transportation resistance. These all year farms could supply perfectly ripe tomatoes with actual taste to them.
