It is also, of course, impossible that it encrypts the *entire* disk. It may encrypt all the partitions your running system uses, but unless your BIOS has encryption support (which it doesn't), you can't have an encrypted boot partition.
Your concept of impossible is, of course, a little bit flawed, for I have at least 5 *entire* disks encrypted in this single box I am writing on. And some of them has no partitions, just a filesystem over raw disk.
I remember there is an old Czech SciFi movie about an utopian society where men are obselete and women procastrinate by cloning. Anyone remember then name?
That movie is not Czech, but Polish, original title is "Sexmisja" (Sexmise in Czech dabing). Some early 80', I guess. In after-nuclear war epoch, women consolidated a society in underground bunkers-mines system, ruled by two opposing organizations, Genetix and Archeo, struggling each other with different ideologies... until they found a hybernation chamber with two frozen men in excavations.
As an American, am I a fool if I decide to undertake this for a living?
Being American or not, it depends on your attitude to personal sovereignty. If you plan to spend your life as a slave employee your life will depend on too much events you cannot control, not just offshoring. Anyone able to point and click can take a "software engineer" position, just like anyone able to handle shovel could take a "machine engineer" in steam age.
But if you decide to take your own responsibility of yourself, good knowledge of programming can help you to start your own enterprising from almost the total zero of capital investment. Because with just an idea, you can make a real product without any other resources than yourself. This is not possible in any other industry with the exception of artwork and sex market.
Remember, employment does not lead to big success, for sure. Enterprising does, sometimes.
In certain advance and surprisingly effective magical systems, like a hindu saiva siddha yoga for one example, causality is treated as symmetric relation in time dimension. Determinism is an illusion in such paradigm, letting free will remain superior above everything. Pitty you anonymous coward.
Requiring ID for Federal Courts becomes extremely problematic: Nevermind open courts, people are required to appear. If they try but are refused admission for lacking documents, how can they be punished for non-appearance?
That one is easy, not extremely problematic at all: they will be jailed for lacking documents. Or for non-appearance.
advertising in tech media is drying up and going where else?
For me it is going... nowhere. I am systematically blocking annoying web ads on both firewall rules and browser image filter. CNET or blogs, CNN or Slashdot, it does not matter. Centralised aggregation of ads at doubleclick and similar ads providers makes it quite easy. Why You give away your bandwidth you pay for to advertisers for free, as in beer?
I tried all of XEN, VMWare, KVM and VirtualBox on AMD X2 5000+ Linux, eh... GNU/Linux host, with a dozens of different guests platforms running in it. And I found XEN the least suitable for desktop end users for technical reasons, with VirtualBox the best and friendliest at the same time. On servers maybe XEN could catch but it is still a technical nightmare.
At the moment, not many users have good hardware for virtualisation but that will change in 2008 and I give XEN not so much chances to get major market slice.
What about those psycho people who spend all their lives getting Linux installed on their XBox/router/phone/wrist-watch? It's bit dull if it already runs Linux.
Don't wary for us. Instead of that funny intel chinese redflag midinux I will surely install hardened gentoo on it.
After a little bit of electronics conversion: replacing a diamond needle with just a laser, optical sensor and preamp the sound quality of turntable can be dramatically improved. So buying vinyls is a good investment in the DRM age.
Censorship may be necessary,
Censorship is necessary only in totalitarian regimes.
but should it be overseen by Government.
That's how a totalitarian regime operates, actually.
Does Anonymity In Virtual Worlds Breed Terrorism?
No, it is repression and colonialism in real world that breeds terrorism.

How difficult would be to rename a file even for a typical average windows lamer?

A spectacular crash, this is exactly something what I would expect from 'KillaCycle'.
So will this ad technology get a free pass from Windows Defender?
Of course it will. And expect a fresh dose of malvare on every level your character reaches in your favourite rpg.

Don't vote for stupid.
The question was: "Best Presidential Candidate for Nerds?". Don't be stupid.
Zaphod Beeblebrox for president!
Fallen software developers go homeless, fallen managers go into politics, isn't it?

for me, gentoo is still more healthy than any other platform ever
in the GNU/Linux world, installing new software is always pretty confusing.
Since I am on Gentoo, I am accustomed to build my packages myself. However, I fail to find any confusion in doing this.
